The giant panda is easily recognized by the large, distinctive black patches (斑点) around its eyes, over the ears, and across its round body.

The giant panda is a terrestrial (陆生的)

animal and primarily spends its life in the bamboo forests of the Qinling Mountains and in the hilly province of Sichuan.

Roads and railroads are increasingly fragmenting (使……分裂) the forest, which isolates panda populations and prevents mating, and the forest destruction also reduces pandas’ access to the bamboo.
