Chelyabinsk Power Plant (GRES), Fortum PJSC

PROJECTS

The unit providing complete disposal of the regeneration water of Na-cation-exchange filters receiving dry salt with sodium chloride concentration up to 97% was put into operation at Chelyabinsk Power Plant, (Fortum PJSC) for the first time ever in Russia.This product is reused both at Chelyabinsk Power Plant and at other power plants of Fortum PJSC to regenerate Na-cation-exchange filters. Salt disposals to the Miass River are completely excluded.

Implementation of ZLD technologies enables to reuse water without environmental load on water bodies.

Waste water treatment based on zero liquid discharge approach using evaporation units allows:• completely eliminate salt disposal to water

bodies • application of minimum quantity of

chemical reagents • application of salt product for the Plant

own needs

Configuration of evaporation unit: • equipment for evaporation of brines • separator of the suspended mixture • salt dryers

Wide range of sludge dewatering andutilization technologies allows gettinghigh-energy fuel elements (pellets),technogenic biologically safe soil and/orraw material for production ofconstruction materials.Thermal treatment of dewateredsludges (execution of thermal processesdue to the energy obtained fromburning of dewatered sludges) allowsreducing waste amount by 12-16 times,while ash residues can be used as theadditive for production of cement.

Thanks to the application of technologies provided by Voronezh-Aqua the following wastes can be dewatered and treated for further dumping or utilization:• surplus activated sludge of all types of

biological waste treatment facilities sludge of pulp and paper plants

• sludge of water treatment facilities oil sludge

The abovementioned technologies comprise:• mechanical dewatering units (based on

screw dehydrators, decanter centrifuges, press-filters of various design)

• sludge thermal drying units waste thermal treatment units

• waste treatment units using the integration mineral-matrix technology
