Antioch is a union church of Cumberland Presbytenans and United Methodist. Traditionally, the Methodists provided the preacher on the first and third Sunday of each month and the CP's provided the preacher on the second and fourth Sundays. However, about two years ago we thought it would be better to have one preacher that preached all Sundays and that is what we have been doing for the last two years. The congregation desires to stay with this model if we can find the right Pastor. Being in a rural area we have had challenges for several years with low attendance but unlll COVID-19 hit we seemed to be on the upswing but it has been a struggle lately. The church congregation is very unified with not much thought given to whether you are Methodist or CP.

A. THE CHURCH ANO COMMUNITY

1. The Church Antioch Church is located in very rural are of Obion County, approximately 8 miles from the county seat of Union City. The current building was erected in 1912 but It has been well maintained with a recent renovation of the basement area to provide better spaces for youth education areas. We have an Activities Building that was built in 1998 that includes a full kitchen, one upstairs class room (currently used by Youth) and a combination basketball court and dining area. We have a tight knit congregation with many family connections. Some members families have attended for generations while others are more recent attendees. We have a mix of older members, middle age (empty nesters) and young families. We are pretty informal in dress and conduct of worship services. Musically we try to have a mix of contemporary and tradrlional hymns. We try to welcoming and genuine to all visitors and tend to our flock.

2. The Community Obion County has a population of about 32,000 wrth the business and industrial hub being Union City which is about 8 miles from Antioch. The area surrounding Antioch Is primarily a farming community but as farming techniques have evolved most people are not involved in farming and work in business or industry. Lake Road Elementary School (K-8) is located approximately 4 miles from Antioch and new and prospective members frequently come from school connections with one of our members. The are around Antioch is populated with predominately middle class families who work in Union City.

B. PROGRAM AREAS IN THE LIFE OF THE CHURCH Comment on such program areas as worship, fellowship, Christian education, evangelism, stewardship, missions (both local and beyond the congregation). Bus Ministry on Wednesday Night- We have been picking up area youth and bringing them to church for a meal and bible study. Before COVl[)..19 we were having about 15 kids in this program.

Children's Church - During morning services we have a children's church for kindergarten and younger.

Our ministry has been directed in large part at children. We usually have a Back-to-School party every year where we bring in inflatables and have other games, face painting and food to kick off the school year. This coincides with us starting back up on Wednesday night services.

Wednesday Night Adult Bible Study - Most recently we had two classes on Wednesday night for adults. One for Women and one for Men.

Sunday School- Most recently we had a Senior Sunday School (Adults 65 and up) and another Sunday School for all other Adults and then a Sunday School for children.
