The Family Crisis Center of the Rio Grande Valley has unveiled its new logo in an effort to inform and involve the community.

“The new logo is the beginning of a new era in services,” Executive Director Cynthia V. Catchings said.

“It represents family unity and wellbeing, breaking the cycle of violence. It includes the colors purple and teal,

representing family violence awareness and sexual assault awareness.”

Many clients and survivors already have benefited from the Family Crisis Center’s services. So, the idea of creating a new image is to continue offering the same services and creating change in the community. This time, the major emphasis is on the most innovative models of service, counseling and advocacy in the nation.

The center intends to modernize both its image and services in an effort to transform the way victims of family violence and/or sexual assault are served in the Valley.

“I am very happy to see this new facet of the center. I am glad to be able to see the changes it is going through,” said Maria, a woman who utilizes the center’s facilities. “The Family Crisis Center offered shelter, protection and hope to my children and me. Without their help, we might not be alive today.”

Founded in 1981, The Family Crisis Center of the Rio Grande Valley is the leader in advocacy, counseling, legal

assistance, shelter and rapid rehousing services in the area.

The organization offers a wide range of services designed to empower adults and children experiencing domestic violence and/or sexual assault and increase community awareness and responsiveness in northern Cameron County and Willacy County through prevention, education, outreach and advocacy.
