LAYING AND NON-LAYING BIRDS IDENTIFICATION DEMONSTRATION
OBJECTIVE:Separate the non-productive birds and develop them with special care to them to attain good productivity.
PROCEDURE:
* After peak production, identify and separate the non-layer and broody birds.
* Arrange a separate pen for the segregated birds and provide the same floor space, feed type, drinker space as per the laying birds.
* Close the nest box doors in the non-layer pen.
* Less feed gram is given to the non-laying and broody birds.
* Maintain the males ration based on the production.
CONTROL PARAMETER:
The broody & Non-layer birds may be found may be found from 35th weeks onwards. CHARACTERISTICS NON-LAYING BIRDS:* Comb & wattles: Pale red, shrinkages and small* Pelvic bone: Below 2 finger space* Vent: dryness* Sound: Abnormal* Settling: Corner of the shed* Loss of tail and back feathers, wound in the combs, yellow colouration of the shank, beak and ear lobes.
BROODY BIRDS:
* The body feathers are shiny.* Goose flesh feathers.* Settles inside / under the nest box. Also in the corner & darker area of the pens.* Induce sound if any person / bird go near to it.
