Dear nean Smith: T h e Fourth Michigan Law School Funcl Campaign
raised 5144,898.13, to help you and your colleagues on the faculty maintain that extra margin of excellence we all wish for the Law School.
This is the gift of friends everywhere, aided by the work of more than 300 loyal alumni who, laying aside other demands on their energies, have carried the Law School's message to their fellows. It reflects the deter- mination of those who enjoy the benefits of a legal education at Michigan to keep their school-as T h e Victors puts it-with "the leaders ancl the best."
T h e solid growth of the Law Fund is reflected in the figures:

Dear Tom: Once more I express my deep gratitude to you, and
the hundreds who helped you, for the splendid effort in the 1964 Law School Funcl campaign. T h e con- tinued growth of the fund is surely clemonstrable evi- clence of the loyalty of our alumni and of their desire to maintain the quality of excellence at the hfichigan Law School. TVe on the faculty are most appreciative ancl I can assure you that we intencl to do our part in the educational process.
Tl'henever a society encounters rapicl changes, wheth- er they be political, social or economic, lawyers are called upon to pro\licle guidance in the formation of the institutions which will bring order to that society. Toda)r's worlcl strains the ingenuity, the patience, nncl the fortitude of all who are SO engaged. This conclition necessarily affects the etlucational institutions which are responsible for proclucing the enlightened man- power to meet society's needs. Both educational con- tent ancl eclucational methocl are constantly challengecl anel we seek, as I think our alumni ~roulcl want, to preserve the best of the past while adapting the best of the new icleas. Your alumni dollars play a signif cant role in this operation, and we are grateful for the support.
Sincerely yours,
,.Illan F. Smith Dean

Resolution Adopted by the Faculty of the Law School,
March 5, 1965
T h e Faculty of the Law School again wishes lo ex- press its gratitude to the Alumni and friends of the Law School who have so generously responded with contributions to the 1964 Law School Fund campaign. In this fourth year 2,9 13 donors contributed $144,898.13 to the Fund, making a total of $410,068.49 since its inception.
For the time ant1 efforl each has given to make the campaign the success that it has been, the Fund solici- tors, class ,agents, local chairmen, state chairmen, re- gional chairmn and National Committeee members are singled out for special thanks.
T h e greater portion of the money made available has been used to provide financial assistance to needy students-loans, grants and scholarships. In addition, the Fund has assisted in bringing outstanding lawyers, judges and teachers to the campus to enrich the stu- dents' educational experience. I t has helped support training in advocacy through the Case Club and Na- tional Moot Court Program. With University help, i t has provided fifteen individual carrells for Law Re- view staff. Added equipment for the practice court training program and added books for the library have been acquired through these resources. Special gifts this year will permit experimentation with film and video-tape instruction.
This statement of appreciation is to be communi- caled to all of the alumni of the Law School.
