Welcome
House Bill 1355 Phase 2 Implementation: As a result of HB 1355, Protection of Vulnerable Persons, on October 1 2012, the Florida Abuse Hotline is required to electronically disseminate allegations of Non Caregiver Abuse to the local Sheriff’s Office. To accomplish this, the Hotline generates a Florida Administrative Message, with the subject line “Florida Abuse Hotline Notification” to pass on the information received by our Hotline Abuse Counselor. The Department of Children and Families does not investigate allegations of Non Caregiver abuse.
DCF Jurisdiction
The Department of Children and Families investigates allegations of abuse neglect and exploitation for children and vulnerable adults. In order to accept an allegation for investigation, the Hotline must have reasonable cause to suspect that abuse or neglect has occurred. Please make sure this suspicion is clear in all of your reports made to the Hotline.
4
Florida Safe Families Network (FSFN)
FSFN is the Florida Department of Children and Families system of record. Upon receiving a call, the Hotline Counselor assesses for allegations of abuse and neglect and documents accordingly in FSFN.
