Pray for Vocations The Good Shepherd calls his own

sheep by name and leads them. Is

He asking you to help others to

find Him? Pray for an increase in

vocations to the priesthood, diac-

onate, and religious life, especial-

ly for our archdiocese, that God will raise up

good shepherds in our midst. If God is calling

you, contact Fr. Hansoo Park at 416-968-099

or by Email [email protected]

Men who have responded to

God’s call to dedicate their

lives to His service come from

all walks of life. Those who

enter the priesthood come from

different ages and backgrounds,

economic situations, skill sets, and ethnic

communities. At ShareLife-funded agencies

such as Serra House, Redemptoris Mater, and

St. Augustine’s Seminary, they undergo exten-

sive theological education and practical field

training. Through ShareLife, you are helping

sustain the vocations for priesthood and in-

spire discernment for God’s call. Last year

ShareLife helped support over 70 priests and

seminarians in their formation studies.

Questions for Reflection: Whose task is it in our day to

carry on the work of the Good

Shepherd?

Can you discern in your life which

“voice” belongs to the Good

Shepherd?

Fourth Sunday of Easter

On this Good Shepherd Sunday of prayer for vocations, the Church reminds us of

our call to become good shepherds of God’s flock and good sheep of His parishes,

and invites us to pray for vocations to the priesthood, the diaconate and the conse-

crated life. Both the Old and New Testaments use the image of a shepherd and

his flock to describe the unique relation of Israel to God and of the Christians to

Christ.

Pre-Authorized Giving How Do I Enroll? Fill out the

PAG form which you can pick up at

the entrance of the Church or in the

parish office. You can also request it

via email, see bulletin cover for

email address.

Reflecting on our

Pastoral Plan The Christian family is the vessel through

which we have the opportunity to evange-

lize to the world. We recognize the great

challenges faced by families in an increas-

ingly secular society. We will emphasize

activities that support Marriage Preparation,

Marriage Enrichment and outreach to sin-

gle, widowed, separated and divorced Cath-

olics. We must also look for opportunities

to support the elderly in our midst through

outreach initiatives and inviting them to

take a leadership role and share their gifts

and talents.

To support the publicly funded Catholic

Education system, we require the leadership

of parents as primary educators and Chris-

tian witnesses for our children. It is also a

central priority to invite youth of all ages to

participate fully in our faith as valued pa-

rishioners, involving them in roles of minis-

try and service. We encourage parishes to

have a Youth Council, a youth minister and

to work together with the Office of Catholic

Youth. To learn more about the Pastoral

Plan, visit www.archtoronto.org/pastoral

Men in Black Diverse backgrounds yet a common call

for Toronto’s newest priests Archdio-

cese of Toronto celebrates ordination of

five “Men in Black”. Five men were or-

dained to the priest-

hood to serve to the

faithful of the Archdi-

ocese of Toronto on Saturday, May 10. Car-

dinal Thomas Collins, Archbishop of To-

ronto, presided at the ceremony, which took

place at 10 a.m. at St. Michael’s Cathedral.

These candidates have undergone a mini-

mum five years of extensive spiritual for-

mation, theological education and field

training in preparation for priestly ministry.

Following their ordination, they will be

assigned to one of 225 parishes in the arch-

diocese, which stretches from Oshawa to

Mississauga and north to Georgian Bay.

The “Class of 2014” includes:

Reverend Mr. Scott Birchall, 32, born in

Richmond Hill, the youngest of four

children

Reverend Mr. Omar Hernandez, 32, born

in Colombia, the youngest of six sib-

lings.

Reverend Mr. Marijan Šiško, 37, born in

Croatia, the seventh child of eight.

Reverend Mr. Michael Simoes, 29, born

in Toronto, the youngest of three chil-

dren

Reverend Mr. Neiman D’Souza, 31, born

in Kuwait and moved to Ontario in the

late 1980s.

As one of the most diverse dioceses in the

world, the Archdiocese of Toronto is home

to 1.9 million Catholics, with more than 800

diocesan and religious priests providing

pastoral leadership in churches throughout

the GTA. Let us keep them in our prayers.
