of narration, setting, character, theme and symbol, as well as to consider ways of creating mood, and of writing good story openings, closings and dialogue

Content The module comprises 3 parts. Part 1: Students are introduced to
the aims, design and content of the module. They will learn to identify and understand the key features of a short stories, and read stories with appreciation.

Content Part 2: Students read and write
specific aspects of a short story, e.g. setting, character, theme, dialogue, opening and closing. They will also start to write their own story.

effect.
