Year 4 go GreekYear 4 were visited by Mike AKA ‘Mikos’ from Portals to the Past, who
is an expert in Ancient Greek history. Their learning from History lessons was extended with activities including a Greek quiz, Greek games and an Archimedes puzzle. They learned about Greek gods, democracy and famous battles. However, the best and most enjoyable activity was surely the Greek theatre, acting out the story of Jason and the Argonauts; the pupils really embraced it and got into character, helped by their outstanding costumes!
Reception Superheroes on a Mission to Make People SmileWhat amazing superheroes we
had in Reception on Superhero Day!
The children have really understood that real people, including themselves, can behave like superheroes and this was certainly reflected in some of the choice of costumes. Throughout this topic we have stressed to the
children that their biggest super power is that of kindness and the children went on a ‘Mission to Make People Smile’ around the school by committing an act of kindness and giving each member of staff a special message about what an amazing job they are doing. These messages certainly raised many smiles and the children thoroughly
enjoyed carrying out their mission, which for most of them was their favourite part of the day.
On our return to the classroom the children said that doing something kind and making someone smile made them feel ‘happy’ and ‘glad’.
Several members of staff have emailed messages of thanks to
the children which has made the children smile too.
For PE we kept fit and worked on our super strength with Jump Start Johnny routines which the children loved. We have also read some superhero stories.
Super Teacher and Super TA are proud to have such a super class!
Panto Fun for our younger pupilsNursery, Pre-Prep and Years 3
and 4 had a fantastic time (Oh yes they did!) watching the pantomime of Jack and the Beanstalk. They saw Jack and his mum Dolly save Blossom the cow from the giant and his evil henchman Slinky Macready. The children participated beautifully, cheering, shouting and booing with gusto! Thank you to the LPWA for funding this event for the children.
Year 5 visit Berkeley LodgeYear 5 visited Berkeley Lodge care home to sing carols and perform
music and drama pieces to the residents. The students were wonderful, their singing and performances were appreciated by all there and we were very proud of them.

Head for the DayLouis B won the chance to be Head
for the Day as a prize at the summer fair. He spoke in assembly introducing and thanking our guest speaker, drank coffee in Mrs Beeby’s office while she literally took the opportunity to ‘Take a Break’, and he gave out Headteacher’s awards in the Pre-Prep Celebration Assembly.
Louis also held a senior management meeting with his friends, fortified by chocolate.
He loved every minute of it!
House Treat for CeltsThe Celts enjoyed their well
deserved House Treat this week, when they gathered in the school cinema (AKA the hall) dressed in PJs and onesies and armed with pillows to eat popcorn and watch a Hollywood blockbuster. The movie was pupil (and staff) favourite Aladdin so there were plenty of opportunities to sing and dance along to the well-known songs. Well done Celts!
Years 5 and 6 experience NarniaThe pupils in Years 5 and 6 have been studying classic authors as
part of their English studies and embarked upon a journey to the Bridge Theatre in London to see the critically acclaimed The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. It was stunning! From visuals, to acting, to costumes, to songs it was spellbinding from start to finish. The pupils (and staff) gasped as favourites were turned to stone and the lion was shaved and then killed. They clapped and cheered [Spoiler alert!] as he came back to life and the children were crowned kings and queens of Narnia – there wasn’t a face which wasn’t lit with a smile. On the journey back, spirits were high and the adults were treated to hours of carols – often different carols at the same time, but carols all the same! It was a wonderful day, which left all with a warm Christmassy glow!

The LPWA would like to thank everyone for their valued support which has helped to raise just over £2,000!
