Yves Antoine Gachet Music, woodwork and design are the roots of all Tony Echavidre’s instruments. Drawing on his varied experience gained in France, England and Germany, he now makes violins, violas, cellos and double basses. Some of which are copies, and others not. Tony always makes to measure: the sound, the ergonomics and the design, all fitting the need of the musician.

Timothee Jean et Julie Maroncles Julie and Timothée are two French violin makers who graduated from the National School of violin making in Mirecourt. In 2006 they opened their own atelier in Huriel, Auvergne, where they manufacture and repair the instruments of the quartet.

JULIE MARONCLES began playing the violin when she was just four years old. It was an exciting encounter with this instrument which led her to her early interest in violin making. She produced her first violin at sixteen. She loves experimenting with different methods and models, looking for something unique in every instrument. She is now especially inspired by the Italian models, most of all: Pietro Guarneri.

TIMOTHéE started playing the violin at the age of fourteen and he soon after developed a desire to become a luthier.Timothy is now specialized in cellos, taking his inspiration from the models of M. Goffriller and P. Guarneri of Venice.Cellist Martine Altenburger has recently commissioned a cello from him, in order to play contemporary music.”

Le Bois De LutherieIn the heart of Franche-Comté, Bois de Lutherie combined his knowledge of the forest to that of violin making in order to offer a large selection of cut wood. From forests set in the high altitudes of the Haut Jura the company extracts only the best and most beautiful spruce (epicea). It is then cut into wedges for the tops of the instrument used in making violins, cellos, guitars and harpsichords....Bois de Lutherie also selects flamed maples as well as fruit trees and boxwood, which are then cut specifically for violin making. The company offers workshops in violin making intended for the amateur violin maker, under the guidance of professional violin makers in a well-equipped workshop.

Samuel Peguiron Established 1983 in Nancy, Samuel Peguiron creates violins, violas and cellos, along with more unusual instruments such as the piccolo cello, viola pomposa and the viola d’amore. They are designed firstly, by following the aesthetic/acoustic rules of the early masters, and then entirely made by hand from very finely toned wood (the wood being more than 25 years old). He has made over 80 instruments, some of which are played by renowned musicians (J.C.Spinosi, Z.Kornowicz). His latest cello won the sonority award at the “fête des luthiers 2011” in Montpellier.
