Fabric Requirements and Cutting InstructionsRequirements are based on 42” fabric width.

Fabrics are cut on the width of fabric (WOF). When cut on the length of fabric, the notation LOF will be indicated.

Assemble BlocksNote: Measurements include 1/4” seam allowances. Sew with right sides together unless otherwise stated. If no direction is specified, press seams toward darker fabric.

1. Sew a 1-7/8” 4353-13 Purple strip in between two 1-7/8” 4353-19 Sunshine strips to make a strip set. Press the seams to center. Cross-cut strip sets into fifteen 1-7/8” sections. Sew two 4353-19 Sunshine triangles A to each end of the sections (figure 1).

2. Sew two 4353-26 Night Sky triangles B to opposite sides of one 1-7/8” 4353-19 Sunshine square. Press the seams away from square. Repeat to make thirty units. Sew one 4353-19 Sunshine triangle A to the top of each unit (figure 2).

3. Sew a step 2 unit to the top and one to the bot-tom of a step 1 unit (figure 3). Repeat to make fifteen 4-1/2” center blocks.

4. Mark a diagonal line on the wrong side of the 2-7/8” 4353-26 Night Sky squares. With right sides together, place two marked Night Sky squares on opposite corners of one 5-1/4” 4353-17 Multi square making sure drawn lines are intersecting at the mid-dle - corners of small squares will overlap. Stitch ¼” on each side of the marked line (a), cut on the drawn line (b), and press each unit open (c). Place one more marked Night Sky square on the corner of each unit, stitch as before (d), and cut. Press the seams open (e)

to make four 2-1/2” x 4-1/2” flying geese. Repeat with the remaining 2-7/8” 4353-26 Night Sky and the 5-1/4” 4353-17 Multi squares to make a total of sixty flying geese (figure 4).

5. Sew a 2-1/2” x 4-1/2” 4353-23 Aqua rectangle to the bottom of each step 4 flying geese (figure 5). Press the seams toward rectangles.

6. Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of the 3” 4353-26 Night Sky squares. With right sides togeth-er, place one marked Night Sky square on a corner of one 4-1/2” 4353-18 Sunshine square and stitch on the drawn line. Repeat with the opposite corner of the same square. Trim seam allowances to ¼” and press open. In the same manner, sew a 2-1/2” 4353-17 Multi square to one of the corners of all the units as shown (figure 6). Make sixty 4-1/2” patches.

7. Noting patch orientation, assemble fifteen 12-1/2” blocks in rows with the steps 3, 5, and 6 units (figure 7). Press the seams open.

8. Place the flower shapes onto a light box or window-pane. Layer the fusible web onto them and trace fif-teen sets. Cut each shape 1/8” outside the outline and fuse to the wrong side of the fabrics as listed on Table 1. Cut on the outline and remove paper backing.

9. Fold and crease the 9-1/2” 9900-99 Bella Solids Black squares in half twice. Position appliqué shapes on squares using the creased folds as guidelines and

fuse them according to manufacturer’s instructions. Machine appliqué using matching thread and the blanket stitch. Sew two 2” x 9-1/2” 9900-98 Bella Solids White Bleached strips to opposite sides of each flower. Press the seams away from center. Repeat by sewing one 2” x 12-1/2” 9900-98 Bella Solids White Bleached strip to the top and one to the bottom of each flower to make fifteen 12-1/2” blocks of assorted colors (figure 8).

10. Make a strip set by sewing together the 2-1/2” 4353-18 Sunshine and the 2-1/2” 4353-14 Purple strips. Press the seam in one direction. Cross-cut the strip set into eight 2-1/2” sections. Sew the sections together two by two to make four 4-1/2” patches (fig-ure 9). Press the seams open.

Assemble Quilt Top11. Referring to the quilt photo for block placement, lay out five alternating blocks in six rows and join the

blocks together in each row. Press the seams in one direction. Matching adjacent seams, sew block rows together. Press seams in one direction.

12. For border 1, join the seven 2” 9900-98 Bella Solids White Bleached border strips together end to end using diagonal seams. Measure the vertical length of the quilt top through the center and cut two border strips that length. Sew one strip to each side of the quilt top. Measure the width of the quilt top through the center. Cut two border strips that length and sew one to the top and one to the bottom. Press the seams toward the borders.

13. To make border 2, sew the seven 4-1/2” 4353-14 Purple strips together end to end using diagonal seams. Measure the width of the quilt top through the center. Cut two border strips that length, sew a step 10 block to each end of the strips to make the top and the bottom border strips, press seams away from squares and set them aside. Measure the vertical length of the

quilt top through the center and cut two border strips that length. Sew one strip to each side of the quilt top. Press seams toward borders. Finally, sew the top and the bottom strips to the quilt center. Press the seams toward the borders.

Finishing14. Create a quilt sandwich with the batting between the quilt top and the backing. Pin or baste layers together, mark quilting design, and quilt by hand or machine. When quilting is complete, remove pins or basting, and trim batting and backing even with raw edges of the quilt top.

15. Join the eight 2-1/2” 4353-16 Pink binding strips together end to end using a diagonal seam to make one long strip. Fold in half lengthwise and press. Sew binding to the edges of the quilt, mitering corners, and overlapping ends. Fold binding to the back of the quilt and stitch it in place by hand to finish.
