Topic: “The Decision Structure of Programs”

Control flow graphs are widely used as a graphical representation of programs that show the

control flow but abstract from other program details. The control flow is determined by the

decisions, that are, the if-statements and the loops contained in the program. We derive

decision graphs that reduce control flow graphs such that only the decision structure of

programs is displayed. Furthermore we define in this paper well-formed decision structures

and explore which functions correspond to such decision structures.
