..Android Application Development". The hands-on workshop is conducted by Mr. M'
Karthikeyan Managing Director, Smartmobion, chennai and YRSK Technologies,
Coimbatore. III B.Sc CT and II M.Sc CT students were attended the workshop on Sep 16ft
2Ol5 atComputer Lab IV. Nearly 127 students were participated in this workshop.

Report of euest lecture on "Jacquard designing" held on 08.09.2015
The department of Costume Design and Fashion organized a Guest Lecture programme
on the title "Jacquard Designing" at Paffern Making Lab on 08.09.2015 by Mrs. Hema CEO,
Banaras Jacquard Designing Center, from Coimbatore for II and III year students( 43students) at
12.00 am to 1.00 pm. Mrs. R.Umamaheswari Head, Department of Costume Design and Fashion
of Kongunadu Arts and Science College welcomed the gathering. Mrs. Hema delivets the lecture
on weaving and its t1pes. Showed videos on the functions of how the jacquard fabrics are done,
how to trace and edit a design, converting the design in graph and punching of cards according to
the design. She made the lecture interested by interacting with students and also she emphasized
on the importance and application of jacquard designs in sarees, salwars, home textiles, bed
linens, etc. At last the lecture was successfully completed with vote of thanks by
Mr. Navaneetha Krishnan of III B.Sc., Costume Design and Fashion.

Jubilant Association of PG and Research Department & Commerce with PA,
Kongunadu Arts and Science College has conducted a guest lecture on "Emerging trends
in Global Business Environment" on 10.12.2015. Mn H.R.Vivek, Assistant Professor,
CMS Institute of Management Studies, was the resource person for the session.
He emphasized the pros and cons due to Globalization and its impact on
developing countries. He stressed upon the different components of globalization and
how it can be successfully handled in the current scenario. The chief guest also
highlighted the key personalities in different sectors of business who have contributed to
alarger extent in globalizing various services and products across the globe.
Dr.V.Chinnusamy, Chief Executive Officer delivered a presidential address.
Dr.M.Revathi Bala welcomed the gatherings. Ms.S.Rajam and Ms.S.Poorni did all the
arangements. Ms.B.Divya Priya proposed the vote of thanks. Totally, 180 students
benefited out of this programme.

ldeas in Software Development" on 14.12.2015 at the Conference Hall by I 1.00 am.
Presidential address is given by our beloved CEO Dr. V. Chinnusamy and the chief guest is
honored by our respected Principal Dr. T. Muraleeswari. Mr. M. Syed Mohamed, IT InfraProject Manager, G2 Technology Solutions India Pvt. Ltd. Vellakinar Pirivu Coimbatore as
the chief guest and delivered the seminar on project development and new innovative ideas insoftware development. Lr his speech, he expertise the knowledge in software development
life cycle and the stages in project development. Ms. Sujitha of III B.Sc CT welcomed the
gathering and Ms. Hari Priya of II B.Sc CT delivered the vote of thanks. Nearly 47 students
were participated in this seminar.

A one day workshop on "Mural Art" was conducted by the Department of CostumeDesign and Fashion of Kongunadu Arts and Science College, Coimbatore, in Room No. FgPattern Making Lab on 17th December 2015. Mrs. R.Umamaheswari, Assistant professor &Head, Department of costume Design and Fashion welcomed the resource person and thestudents' Ms' Kalpana of Thurika Kalikudam demonstrated on the material requirements, howto proportionately mix the POP powders, how to fix the mould, how to design and paint on themould' Around 35 students actively participated and gained the knowledge. The students fromother departments also participated and made the workshop successful.

The workshop began with invocation of welcome address byMrs' R.Umamaheswari, Assistant Professor & Head, Department of Costume Design andFashion. The students had an intro on the material requirements, how to trace a design and to dodifferent tlpes of stitches by using sequences. A total of 45 students were enthusiasticallyparticipated and made the workshop a grand success.

A Guest lecture on "Self grooming" was organized by the Department of Costume
Design and Fashion of Kongunadu Arts and Science College, Coimbatore, in Room No. F8
Pattern Making Lab for I & II year CDF Students on llft January 2016 from 11 am-l2.noon.
Mrs. R.Umamaheswari, Assistant Professor & Head, Department of Costume Design and
Fashion welcomed the Guests from Amrutha Institutions and the students. Mr. Prabhu Ram, Skill
and Language trainer, Amrutha Institutions gave an introduction about self grooming and its
importance. After him Mrs. Padmarani, Beauty Professional from the same institute gave a
lecture about difterent tones of skin colours, problems of skin, nail and hair and with suitableI
remedies for the problems. The lecture was very useful for the students followed by the talk of
Mr. Pradeep , Faculty in Computer Technology, Amruth Institutions, scope and opportunities in
Fashion Designing along with beautician. Ms. Rama Lakshmi, addressed the students and shared
her experience as a passed out student of Amrutha Institution and at present as a entrepreneur. 75

The Department of English (Aided) organised one-day uGC-cpE sponsored nationallevel conference on "Recent trends in English Language Teaching,, on 20th January 2016 in theMarappa G'Aruchami Auditorium in the college premises. Around 195 participants from variouscolleges participated.
The Inaugural Function began at 10.00 am. Dr. T. Muraleeswari, Head & principalpresided over the frrnction. Mr. Pavith vice President, English Literary Association"Litrostrum"welcomed the gathering. The resource person for Technical Session I was Dr.Mohan Raj, Professor & Head, Department of Training and Development, The English andForeign languages University, Hyderabad, and for Technical Session II Dr. M.R. chandran,Associate Professor, Saraswathi Narayana college, Madurai. The resource persons detailed thevarious aspects of English Language Teaching in current scenario. This session was highlyinteractive and involved various activities for dyadic communication. The reception from theaudience was tremendous and did justice to the renowned expertise of the resource person.

WORKSHOP ON REAL-TIME PCRBy

"Workshop on Real-Time PCR" has been conducted by PG and Research Department
of Biotechnology on 27fi January, 2016 at our college premises. The programme was
conducted to help students, Research Scholars and Teaching Faculty of various Life Science
departments to study about the working principle, handling and applications of Real-Time
PCR.
The programme's welcome address was delivered by Dr. R. Subashkumar, Assistant
Professor and Head in Biotechnology. A special lecture and hands-on training on Real-Time
PCR was given by Dr. S. Ponnappa, Senior Field Scientist, Thermo Fischer Sc. Co. Mumbai.
About 44 participants including the students, research scholars and faculty members of life
science field benefitted out of this workshop.

WORKSHOP ON THEATRE AND THEATRICALS- A REPORT
The Department of English (Aided) organised a UGC-CPE Sponsoredone-day National Level Workshop on Theatre and Theatricals on 18 March2016 in the Marappa G.Aruchami Auditorium in the college premises. Around250 staff members and students from various colleges participated.
The Inaugural Function began at 10.30 am. Dr.c.A.vasuki, Secretary &Director presided. Dr.R.Santhakumari, Associate Professor & Head welcomedthe gathering. In her Presidential Address, the Secretary expressed her interestin theatre and appreciated the efforts taken by the Department. Mrs.JayashreeV.Murthy, Founder, Sthaayi Theatre in and for Education, gave a specialaddress.
The resource person for Technical Session I was Prof.S.Murugavel, ofOxford College, Bengaluru. He detailed the various aspects and components oftheatre in his Power-point presentation, "Impact of Drama on Man,, focusing onthe theoretical aspect of theatre in literature.
