On the boys side, Eastern n- ished fourth behind large-schools Westeld, Lafayette Jefferson and Zionsville. Josiah Marx shined for Eastern as he broke the Zionsville Invitational long jump record with a leap of 22-6. He edged teammate Grant Cole who jumped 22-3.5 for a 1-2 n- ish in the event. Joshua Sommers nished second in the 800 meter run (1:59.28) and the foursome of Lewis Duke, K.J. Myers, Adam Schaaf and Sommers took home second in the 3,200 meter relay (8:12.92). On the girls side, the Lady Comets also nished fourth be- hind the same three teams. In the 3,200 meter relay, the foursome of Brittany Neeley, Bethany Neeley, Sarah Wagner and Jessie Sprinkles set a school and invi- tational record with a rst place time of 9:10.63. Coach Michael Goodspeed noted that is a How- ard County area record and it would have won a state champi- onship in 37 of the last 38 IHSAA state girls track championships. The time was six seconds off the all-time Indiana high school re- cord. Brittany Neeley won the 400 (:58.04) while Ewing claimed second. Eastern was also 1-2 in the 800, with Brittany rst (2:19.76) and Ewing second. Bethany Neeley won the 3,200 (10:52.91) and Wagner claimed second in the high jump (5-2). CARLY MILES NAMED SCHOLAR-ATHLETE Eastern High School graduate and Bradley University sopho- more Carly Miles earned honor- able mention Missouri Valley Conference Women’s Tennis Scholar-Athlete recognition. Miles is the rst Bradley wom- en’s tennis player to earn MVC Scholar-Athlete recognition since 2010. Sporting a 3.78 cumulative grade point average as a health science major, Miles has earned a spot on the Bradley Athletic Director’s Honor Roll during each of her rst three semesters, including a perfect 4.0 during the 2012 Fall term. On the court, Miles has helped the Braves to its best season in 20 years. She is second on the team with 13 singles victories, includ- ing a 5-4 record at No. 4 singles this spring. Miles also leads the Braves with 16 doubles victories. The Lady Titans won on the tennis courts with a 3-2 Mid-Indiana Conference victory over

On the boys side, Eastern fi n-ished fourth behind large-schools Westfi eld, Lafayette Jefferson and Zionsville. Josiah Marx shined for Eastern as he broke the Zionsville Invitational long jump record with a leap of 22-6. He edged teammate Grant Cole who jumped 22-3.5 for a 1-2 fi n-ish in the event.
