Customize your moments and put them in a word album. They make great gifts for the holiday season. For that added touch, personalized gifts are also available.
Dol go-ims are an easy and beautiful way to decorate your child’s dol (First birthday) table.
They have traditionally been made with fruit, candy, dates, and rice cakes. Nowadays, most
people buy or rent plastic replicas, but you can create your own version at home in no time flat.
With a few simple materials, you can make a lovely go-im as traditional or modern as you
would like to fit your party’s colors and themes.
Step 1: You will need: paper towel roll, printout of text or picture for the goim, packing tape, scissors, hot glue gun, white beans (eg. great northern beans), black beans (eg. black turtle beans)
Step 2: Tape the printout or drawing for your dohl goim onto the paper towel roll. Take care to keep the paper as smooth as possible while you tape.
Step 3: Cover the entire roll and printout in tape. This is necessary to keep the hot glue from melting the plastic wrapper off the paper towel roll. When taping the top of the roll, snip the overhanging half of the tape into strips and tape down to get a smooth finish.
Step 4: Starting with the black beans, glue the beans onto your printout by tracing the text or picture. Take the time to sort out some of the smaller beans as they will help to make a more accurate trace.
Step 5: Fill in the rest of the space between the text or picture with white beans. Use the smallest beans you can find; 2 small beans look neater than 1 large bean in the same sized space.
Step 6: Continue gluing white beans along the sides of the goim. Keep the beans in straight parallel lines to keep the goim looking tidy and polished.
Step 7: Glue the white beans in a circular pattern on the top.
Step 8: Clean off any hot glue remnants then take a step back and admire your work!
