OUR STORY...

Koco Boutique is a home interiors and gifts company that specializes in Ethnic chic home furnishings, including vintage rugs, tabletop items, vintage textiles and decorative accessories from around the world.

Rym Akhonzada, founder of Koco Boutique was born and brought up in Tunisia, where she enjoyed the buzz of the souks and the distinctive rich colors of the Mediterranean and traditional patterns and uniqueness of North African home decor. When she moved to the UK in 1998, she tried to keep her home ties by bringing some of her culture with her and decorated her house with distinctive artisan items from Tunisia and other treasures from her extensive traveling. Her unique decor items were admired by friends and colleagues and she was asked to source similar items for them.

Rym immediately spotted a gap in the market between cheaper mass produced home interiors items and unique handmade artisan interior designed products. She started by sourcing the nest products made by the best skilled artisans in North Africa and beyond.

The company beneted from the founders international links to identify suppliers and specialist artisans. The company now works closely with crafters in Tunisia, Morocco, Afghanistan, Pakistan, France and Turkey to bring its customers the nest collections of home interiors and gifts and to develop its collection of soft furnishing designs and exclusive gifts.

SUZANI COLLECTIONSuzani, which means n e e d l e w o r k i n Persian, is the name g i v e n t o l a r g e , embroidered textiles from Central Asia that were used as hang ings or bed c o v e r s . T h e s e textiles were made of several panels of cotton or silk fabric t h a t w e r e embroidered with silk thread. To create the piece, the designs were rst drawn on the panels in ink by e i t h e r a f a m i l y member or a hired professional. Several women in the family w o u l d t h e n embroider different panels, and after the e m b r o i d e r y w a s complete, the panels w o u l d b e s e w n together to form the nished piece.Suzani patterns are all the rage in interior d e s i g n ! S u z a n i t e x t i l e s h a v e a decorative tribal feel. The versatility of this t e x t i l e a n d t h e intricate patterns & vibrant colors will liven up any living space!All of our Vintage S u z a n i s a r e h a n d p i c k e d a n d each is unique.
