$2,000 in Scholarships Awarded at Awareness DayFort Hays State University’s 5th annual Student Awareness Day lunch was held Wednesday, April 27th, at FHSU‘s Robbins Center. Several hundred current Fort Hays State students stopped by to receive a free BBQ lunch, have their photo taken with Victor E. Tiger, and a chance to win a scholarship for use in the fall 2017 semester - the largest scholarship being $1,000! Representatives from Astra Bank, the scholarship sponsor, stopped by the lunch event to draw the names of a few of the lucky scholarship winners!
The Kansas Masonic Foundation recently announced a gift of $250,000 to Fort Hays State University. The gift, spread over five years, will support adult speech, language, and hearing services at the Herndon Clinic on our university’s campus. The support will provide numerous opportunities for older adults in Western Kansas to receive
important health screening services that are currently scarce or difficult to access. Expanding adult services provided by FHSU’s Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders and the Herndon Clinic will include enhanced training and services related to dysphagia (difficulty swallowing) and hearing screenings provided in FHSU’s Western Kansas service area.

Wishing Dorothy Klaus Well in Her RetirementDorothy Klaus will retire at the end of June after 18 years of dedication to the FHSU Foundation. Dorothy has served our office as Gift Processor, as well as Corporate Secretary for our Foundation Board of Trustees. We are thankful for the time she has spent diligently working in support of Fort Hays State and our students. Our Foundation family wishes her the best as she enjoys her retirement with family and friends.
Student Callers Raised $300,000 for FHSUFort Hays State students made more than 86,000 calls to FHSU alumni this year to bring them up-to-date on what’s happening throughout campus and to ask that they give back to their alma mater. Thanks to these students and the generous alumni that they call, more than $300,000 was raised in support of Fort Hays State this year.
These students do a wonderful job of representing Tiger Nation and we appreciate all that they do to ensure a successful future for our great university.
