  • How?

    The BONUS projects are funded through two sources of

    funding:

    • national funding institutions to the respective

    national participants

    • the BONUS EEIG funding to project coordinators,

    who distribute the funding to the participants

    involved in the particular project.

    National funding institutions may have special requirements.

    Research categories as defined within the "Community Framework for State

    Aid for Research and Development and Innovation":

    • Fundamental research: Experimental or theoretical work undertaken

    primarily to acquire new knowledge of the underlying foundations of

    phenomena and observable facts, without any direct practical application

    or use in view;

    • Industrial research: Planned research or critical investigation aimed at the

    acquisition of new knowledge or skills for developing new products,

    processes or services or bringing about a significant improvement in

    existing products, processes or services;

    • Experimental development: The acquiring, combining, shaping and using

    of existing scientific, technological, business and other relevant

    knowledge and skills for the purpose of producing plans and

    arrangements or designs for new, altered or improved products, processes

    or services (including the creation of a commercially usable prototype or

    pilot projects under certain conditions).

    • RFBR supports Russian scientists working on key themes 1.1;

    1.2; 1.3, 1.4; 2.1; 2.2; and 5.1

    • Russian participation in projects should not exceed three

    • The planned research cooperation with Russian participants

    should lead to joint scientific publications

    • The Russian applicants are requested to send the proposals to

    the RFBR according to their rules

    • If a Russian participant will not receive funding from the RFBR

    based on the evaluation carried out, the consortia may be

    allowed to rearrange the work plan
