Administration Team Message Wishing everyone a very Happy and Blessed New Year! The month of December was one of celebration! This year, we lit our Advent candles on our Advent wreath, weekly on our BGTV Broadcast and in our classrooms, as we were together until December 18 h , preparing for Christmas. Our heartwarming Virtual Christmas Concert, Our Christmas Gift to You!was a snapshot of how our students prepared for Jesusbirth. Our students, Miss Prediger, and our entire staff did an outstanding job! It was truly a very beautiful way to end the holy Advent season. As we begin 2021, the staff of Bishop Greschuk School extend sincere appreciation to our parent community for your support of our mission and educational goals and your positive involvement in your childrens learning. We wish to acknowledge the parents that assist on School Council, help with morning supervision of doors, and organize fundraisers. Without these helping hands, our school would not have the enriched programming and learning environment, which our students enjoy. God bless you for your generous contribution of time and talent! A new year is upon us, a time to start fresh! We are looking forward to these next few months of the year, full of living and learning! We are especially looking forward to celebrating Jesusbirth and the Epiphany of our Lord. We will have a virtual Happy Birthday Baby Jesuscelebration, prepared by our Grade 1 students and teachers, when we return to in person learning on January 11 th on our morning Broadcast. Please note that all students will be learning online from January 4 th to January 8 th . We hope to return to in school learning on January 11 th . Our Virtual Kindergarten Open House will take place on January 27 at 6:30 p.m. Please check our website for information and our live link for that evening. Let your neighbours and friends know, as word of mouth is our best advertising. The staff of Bishop Greschuk wishes everyone a Happy New Year, a year filled with many blessings and joys. We pray: Dear Jesus, As You led the Three Kings to You by the light of a star, Please draw us ever closer to You by the light of Faith. Help us to desire You as ardently as they did. Give us the grace to overcome all the obstacles that keep us far from You. May we, like them, have something to give You when we appear before You. Mary, Our Mother, help us to know your Son. Amen. We look forward to a wonderful new year, and hope that these next few weeks are full of wonder and acceptance for you and your family. Gods choicest blessings to you for the year ahead. • Kindergarten Open House

There will be a Virtual Open House for Kindergarten, on January 27th at 6:30 p.m. We have a link here to share if you know of anyone in our school area, friends, relatives, or neighbors who have children in this age group, please make them aware of our wonderful program. Our registrations for the 2021-22 year are being accepted on January 11, 2021. NEW: To be eligible for Kindergarten, your child must be five years old on or before December 31, 2021. Registration will be on-line only beginning January 11, 2021.

    Student Safety

Supervision for children starts at 8:15 am. Please do not send your children before 8:15. Also, please ensure that your children are picked up promptly each day at dismissal time, which is 3:03 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and at 12:00 noon on Thursdays.

The daycare vans have priority in the lay-by, so after school, please do not park in the lay-by until all the daycare vans have left. Please let your children’s caregivers know this as well. The lay-by is a quick drop off and pick up area only. It is very important to have your children ready to exit their vehicle as soon as you pull up. Please also remember that there is no left turn out of the lay-by during peak hours.

    Water Filling Stations

We now have two water bottle filling stations. One in the grade 1 to 3 area and another in the grade 4 to 6 area. Refilling a water bottle saves the environment from plastic. The Div. II water filling station has saved over 1685 water bottles to date. We again thank ECSD facilities services for giving us the two water bottle filling stations.

Parents, please ensure that you send a spoon, fork and water bottle with your child’s lunch and snack. Although we have a few spoons on hand for those who occasionally forget, we are encouraging students to be good stewards of the environment.

    After School Pick Up

Please ensure you are on time to pick your child up after school as there is no supervision after 3:15 PM. Your delay also causes much anxiety in your child who is waiting.

It is very important that you make end of school arrangements with your child/ren before they leave for school in the morning. We do not like to interrupt classes for messages; we value your children’s instructional time.

  • Thank you to Mrs. Perri-DeSantis for the great idea to introduce Bishop Greschuk School to Festive Fridays! All the students enjoyed wearing red or green or Christ-mas attire complete with: bells, reindeer antlers, trees, presents etc. The students enjoyed the opportunity to get into the Christmas spirit!

    .

  • Bishop Greschuk School community wishes to thank Head Custodian, Mr. Getu Molla, for being a wonderful example for our students. He is a shining example of “Being Called by Name.” His dedicated, generous, and kind service to our school community is appreciated by all. “He is an angel amongst us.” This was noticed by one of our students who writes that Mr. Molla is his hero!

    Our Art...

  • Our Virtual Christmas Concert was a tremendous success! Thank you to our very talented music teacher, Miss Prediger and all our staff for their hard work in preparing the children. We are very proud of our students for their enthusiasm and performances. This year, we all had the best seat in the house...at home in our favourite chair. On behalf of all of us at Bishop Greschuk School, thank you for watching our Virtual Christmas Concert...Our Christmas gift for you. We hope you felt the warmth and joy of this special season. Please do not post any portion of this concert on any social media platforms. Thank you for your cooperation. We wish you many blessings and a safe, happy and healthy holiday and Merry Christmas!

We truly hope this concert brought you some joy as our gift to you! The true meaning of Christmas was shared with all!

    Virtual Christmas Concert

    “Our Christmas Gift for You”

  • Our school was selected to decorate the Christmas Tree located in the atrium of Barnett House where the ATA is located. Our staff and students completed beautiful ornaments that grace the tree. Thank you to the teachers and students for sharing their artistic talents with all who enter Barnett House to give them some of the Christmas cheer from Bishop Greschuk.

Our classes spread more Christmas cheer from Bishop Greschuk Schools. Our students made cards that will be given to people in need this Christmas. We hope that the messages will give others a sense of joy this Christmas in the hope that they know everyone is loved and remembered as a child of God.

  • Talk or Tech?

The New Year is often a time for setting goals. Consider this question: What are your goals for your children?

    To build self-confidence

To get along well with others

    To develop literacy skills

    To improve communication skills

To discover a meaningful, engaging career path

To live with purpose and happiness Whatever your answers, your daily habits within the home can help you (and your children) reach these goals. Technology has fast become embedded within our daily lives. In fact, our children have never known a life without technology! Along with the benefits, there are also cautions about its negative influence in our lives. It is important to establish family rules with electronics. For more information, and for tips to setting healthy technology limits, check out this article.
