H H D H KICK THE FLU Keeping YOUR family healthy at no cost to you! WHY GET VACCINATED? It is recommended by the CDC that all persons aged 6 months and older receive a flu vaccine every year. The financial burden of Influenza in the US annually is estimated at $10.4 Billion! On average 36,000 deaths are attributed to Influenza annually across the country. Almost everyone can be safely vaccinated, and the more people who are immunized, the less likely it is for anyone to get the flu. Yet just over half of students in Texas are vaccinated with the flu vaccine. Bringing flu vaccines directly to students in schools at no cost has proven to be an effective way to increase vaccination rates for children, protecting our families from illness and saving lost time away from school and work. ABOUT OUR PARTNERS Healthy Schools LLC is a healthcare access company that promotes the health of children by administering influenza vaccines (flu shots) at school. We have a public/private partnership with school districts and the Texas Department of State Health Services to provide this service at no cost to schools or families. Healthy Schools provides all the required staffing and paperwork necessary for the program. In addition, Healthy Schools appropriately supplies vaccine from private supplies or from federal Vaccines for Children supplies, as applicable, so that students with private insurance, Medicaid, CHIP, or no insurance can all participate. Healthy Schools reports all vaccines to the Texas ImmTrac program. We are the only private company in Texas currently operating this type of program. E3 Alliance is a regional, data-driven education collaborative based in Austin, Texas. We work with education, business, and nonprofit partners across the Central Texas region to improve student outcomes in order to create economic prosperity for our egion. Based on data that shows that peaks in Central Texas student absences coincide with peaks in flu incident reports, we brought together Healthy Schools and district and community partners to build the largest school-based flu immunization campaign ever in the state of Texas. HOW WE OPERATE IN CENTRAL TEXAS Healthy Schools LLC was founded in Florida, where it runs the largest flu vaccine program in the state. Now with offices in Texas, Healthy Schools is partnering with Schoolhouse Pediatrics, Texas Health and Human Services, E3 Alliance to vaccinate students in school- based clinics. Prior to clinic days, Healthy Schools sends consent forms home with students. Insurance information is captured on the form. For those students with appropriately completed consent forms, a Healthy Schools nurse administers the flu vaccine to students. No students, schools or parents are billed for these services. Healthy Schools then submits a report of all services to the State of Texas ImmTrac database.
