Hi Folks Thank goodness the weather has improved, sadly not quick enough for the last market, where our paltry takings failed to match the effort involved. This reinforces my view that we must do something about it---More of that anon. The two “gardens’ and the Met Station are looking very nice, Thanks to all involved. I realise that it has been hard to motivate oneself on cold windy and wet mornings, but the result is worth it and still attracts admiration from residents and visitors. Thankfully, July and August are quiet as regards our fundraising activities, it is a time to rest and recharge the batteries. However, have a look at the upcoming events from now until Christmas and you can see the ones that we are committed to assist. We could be quite busy and will need extra hands at some stages. The news from Past President Peter’s grandchildren is that they are making good progress, they have still some way to go, but there is genuine cause for optimism. On Wed 24 th there is a Inter Service Club Trivia challenge night at Waves on the Beach. I am still awaiting details, (which is leaving a bit late). But I am going to need some Intelligent bodies to represent Kiama Lions (that rules me out). So I will be looking for a team on Thursday. Talking of Thursday, we will have Steve Dalton from the Relay for Life folks coming to make a presentation to us for coming top in the fundraising at the last event. Then, at the next meeting on 18th, we have Graham Packer coming to make an award on behalf of the Salvation Army to thank us for our efforts. Glad to hear that we have a good response to the Theatre trip for Hairspray . We are looking at some more interesting outings for later. Don’t forget Happy Hour Sept 16 th , and mark your diaries for April 21 st next year- Race Day- Clive Payne is already at work at this. Hi Folks

Thank goodness the weather has improved, sadly not quick enough for the

last market, where our paltry takings failed to match the effort involved.

This reinforces my view that we must do something about it---More of that

anon.

The two “gardens’ and the Met Station are looking very nice, Thanks to all

involved. I realise that it has been hard to motivate oneself on cold windy

and wet mornings, but the result is worth it and still attracts admiration

from residents and visitors.

Thankfully, July and August are quiet as regards our fundraising activities,

it is a time to rest and recharge the batteries. However, have a look at the

upcoming events from now until Christmas and you can see the ones that

we are committed to assist. We could be quite busy and will need extra

hands at some stages.

The news from Past President Peter’s grandchildren is that they are making

good progress, they have still some way to go, but there is genuine cause for

optimism.

On Wed 24th there is a Inter Service Club Trivia challenge night at Waves on

the Beach. I am still awaiting details, (which is leaving a bit late). But I am

going to need some Intelligent bodies to represent Kiama Lions (that rules

me out). So I will be looking for a team on Thursday.

Talking of Thursday, we will have Steve Dalton from the Relay for Life folks

coming to make a presentation to us for coming top in the fundraising at the

last event. Then, at the next meeting on 18th, we have Graham Packer

coming to make an award on behalf of the Salvation Army to thank us for

our efforts.

Glad to hear that we have a good response to the Theatre trip for Hairspray .

We are looking at some more interesting outings for later.

year- Race Day- Clive Payne is already at work at this.

Our speaker for this week is Marg Purcell from the Denny Foundation a

locally based charity working with adolescents at risk. It will be very

enlightening.

Look forward to seeing you there.

For all Lions members

knowledge. – Copy of email

received from Past

President Peter Scifleet re:

his grandchildren’s

progress ( Received

27/7/11)

Hello all, With President Jerry’s

majestic permission, please find

this update of the twins.

Thanks for all the calls, cards, best

wishes & prayers.

Both boys are doing well, but will

be in neonatal care for a little

longer yet.

Rory is in a ‘big boy cradle’ & is

breathing his own air. Oliver has

come through his heart operation

OK & is now working on developing

his lungs (no joke intended). He has

an issue with his kidneys, but at

present we don’t to what extent,

however, he is peeing like a champ.

They are now three weeks old.

Thanks again for your thoughts.

Peter &Wendi Scifleet.
