RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. Each exhibitor must become a member of the Kenyon

Agricultural Society. Adult membership is $5.00 and payable to

the Treasurer. There is no charge for Junior membership (16

years and under); however juniors must request a membership

number that is to be included on all entry tags. A junior who

wishes to show in the open classes must pay the Adult

membership of $5.00. Admission to the grounds is not

included with the membership.

2. All articles will be exhibited in the Maxville Complex Hall.

3. All articles for exhibition in the Hall must be placed with an

entry tag attached by 12:00 noon on Thursday, June 20, 2019

when they will be judged. All exhibits are to be picked up from

Complex Hall at 3:30 pm Sunday June 23, 2019.

NOTE: Exhibition Hall will be open Wednesday, June 19, 2019

from 6:00pm to 8:00pm for anyone who cannot place exhibits on

Thursday from 9:00 am to 12:00pm.

4. Only Directors and their assistants will be allowed in the

Complex Hall during the judging.

5. Entry tags are available for pick up from Secretary of K.A.S.

(613 346-2486), the President of Homecraft Division or at

Debbie’s Country Corner, Maxville. Each item must have an

entry tag.

6. In absence of competition in any class when the article

exhibited is of inferior quality, the Judges are instructed to award

such prize only as they think deserving, whether first, second,

third or any.

7. No exhibitor shall be allowed to have his / her name or other

distinguishing marks on any animal or articles exhibited. All such

shall be set aside by the Judges and any member who interferes

with the Judges in any way shall have their prizes forfeited.

8. All fruits or vegetables must be grown by the exhibitor.

9. Articles must be made by the exhibitor and may be shown for 2

consecutive years only!

10. Reliable caretakers will be placed in charge of articles

exhibited in the Hall and the Directors will take every precaution

possible to ensure the safety of the articles. The Directors wish it

distinctly understood that the owners themselves must take the

risk of exhibiting them and should any article be accidently

damaged or lost, the Directors will give every assistance toward

recovery of same but will not make any payment of the value

thereof.

11. It shall be a condition of entry that the Society shall not be

liable for any loss to an exhibitor occasioned by fire, accident,

condition of structure or negligence of other exhibitors or officials.

12. All judges’ decisions are final.

13. All exhibitors must conduct themselves in an appropriate

manner.

14. Award for the new exhibitor with the most points - The award

for the new exhibitor with the most points is for anyone that

exhibits for the first time in any division in the Homecrafts.

Saturday, June 22 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

Sunday, June 23 from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm

updates to the above times as the fair schedule is finalized after this

publication and are subject to change.

NOTE: Exhibits to be picked up on Sunday June 23 at 3:30 pm. Prize

money will be available.

Award presentations 3:15 pm on Sunday in Exhibit Hall.

Copyright Law: Anyone displaying an article taken from a magazine

or other publication MUST place a card at the base of the article

naming the publication, issue and date as well as the original

designer of the article.

** Each exhibitor must complete an entry form, located at the back of

this book and give it to the secretary when bringing in exhibits.

2019 Fair Photo Contest –

Contest Objectives:

To help publicize the activities of all Agricultural Societies and fairs in

the OAAS.

To create real pride in the creation of well-kept grounds and

buildings.

To encourage more attractive staging of exhibitions and displays.

To educate and provide a source of pride in a community's

development.

To communicate new ideas to other Fairs.

To contribute to a library of images for OAAS promotions

Rules and Guidelines:

1. Competition is open to each and every Agricultural Society.

2. Each society may submit a CD/memory stick of images,

identifying each image by the category # only.

3. Rename each image file with the class number and your fair

name. (i.e. 14-Glencoe.jpg)

4. Pictures must be taken in the current year.

5. Photographers from your society must be volunteers or visitors.

Images from hired Photographers cannot be submitted.

6. Absolutely no digital image enhancing allowed. All enhanced

photos will be disqualified

7. Please do not use tape on CD's.

8. Judging will be done by a committee approved by the

chairman.

9. Prize winning images will be shown and awards presented at

the 2019 OAAS Convention.

10. Prize money will be mailed to the winners following the

convention.

11. CD’s will not be returned.

12. All images will become property of the OAAS and maybe used

for promotional use and posted

13. Agricultural Societies must obtain permission to use the

photos with the people/subjects photographed in the entries

14. All entries must be mailed by your Society to the OAAS. No

electronic submissions will be accepted.

Glossary of Terms: Digital imaging is the art of making digital

photographs, or artwork - through the use of a digital camera or

image capture device, or by scanning a print and saving as an

image file.

Please note: Many fairs throughout the province offer this contest

to their fair visitors/exhibitors, in order to create entries for the

OAAS contest. This is encouraged and a great idea, as it helps

promote your fair. Just remember, submit only one entry per

category to the OAAS competition on behalf of your Society.

Ask your photographers to send their images to your Society.

One CD must be prepared by your Society and sent to the OAAS

by the deadline. Submitting images from your fair’s photo contest?

If it’s a print, scan it to a JPEG file. If it’s a digital image, simple

burn it to a CD with the rest of your society’s photo entries.

Guidelines: All images are to be taken at your 2019 Fair.

For Baking & Bottled Goods:

1. All baking should be displayed on a base covered with tinfoil or

on a paper plate placed in a plastic Ziploc bag.

2. Secure entry tag to the outside of the plastic bag.

3. All bottled goods must be vacuum sealed, no wax. All

containers 1/2 pint and have a new snap lid. Must be homemade.

Judged on texture, appearance, uniformity & flavour.

All exhibits in this Class must be specified or not eligible for

competition. In case of no competition, unless the exhibit is

worthy, the prize will be withheld. One article cannot be shown in

more than one class.

SPECIAL PRIZES:

1. A $15.00 prize donated by Fraserloch Farms, Maxville, will be

given to the exhibitor with the highest points.

2. A $20.00 prize donated by Catherine Kippen to the newest

exhibitor with the highest points in classes.

NOTE:

After judging on Thursday afternoon, exhibitors of pies and

cakes may leave one portion on display and take the remainder

home, on Thursday at 5:00 pm or make alternate arrangements.

COUNTRY FAIR BAKING CONTEST

Rules:

1. All entrants must submit entries that were made using

the sponsor’s product.

2. A product label must accompany each entry as proof of

purchase.

3. A recipe must accompany each entry.

4. All entries will be judged on appearance, texture and

creativity of presentation. The decision of the judge will

be final.

5. Winners must be available for a photograph to be

submitted to the sponsor with their name, address and

recipe. Winner must sign a permission form allowing

the sponsor to use their name, photograph and recipe

in any advertising or publicity without payment.

6. County Fair Baking National Contests. The first place

winner in each local fair is automatically entered in the

national contests when their proof of purchase, recipe

and signed declaration and release form are submitted

to Country Fair Baking by the local fair convenor. An

entrant will be selected in Aurora, Ontario on December

12, 2019 by an agent of the sponsoring company from

all the eligible entries received. Only winners will be

contacted. By submitting an entry, which includes a

signed release form, contestants agree the use of their

name and winning recipe for promotional purposes by

the sponsor.

COMPETITION

ELIGIBILITY, RULES AND REGULATIONS: General Conditions A. Entries must be solely made and hand quilted by the exhibitor and exhibited and judged at a local Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies (OAAS) to be eligible for this competition. B. Entry quilts must be a minimum of 324” measured on the perimeter (smaller quilts will not be eligible to proceed to the next level of competition) C. The winner’s name and pattern to be displayed at the Fair on sign provided by OAAS. D. Judging will occur at local fairs and district levels. A Provincial Grand Champion Quilt will be selected at the Annual OAAS Convention. E. Upon making an entry into the Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies Quilt Competition, the Exhibitor agrees to participate in any promotional activities related to the competition. F. The winning Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies Champion Quilt will not be eligible to compete in any future District and/or Convention OAAS competition. Local Fair Competition 1. Local fair is entitled to send only the Grand Champion Quilt, (min. 324” measured on the perimeter) judged the best of show of all hand quilted quilts to the District Competition. OR If any entry wins GRAND CHAMPION or BEST of ALL ELIGIBLE QUILTS at more than one Fair, the other Fairs at which this quilt was entered and won, should enter their RESERVE CHAMPION or SECOND BEST OF SHOW OF ALL CLASSES quilt in the District Competition. The object of the Fair is to supplement and encourage Junior

activities as organized by the Ministry officers in the area serviced

by the Fair. It is to improve the educational value of the Fair and to

develop new exhibitors for the future. The Junior Fair should also

stimulate the interest of young people in the Fair and through their

interest, a greater number of adults. The list of Classes is arranged

with the view to encourage advanced agricultural work among

young people who expect to make agriculture their vocation and

training in handicrafts.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. All general rules of the Society which are applicable will apply to

this Department.

2. There is no membership fee for Juniors; however juniors must

request a membership number that is to be included on all entry

tags.

3. Entries for Section E can be obtained from the Secretary- (613)

346-2486. Entries in other Sections must be submitted prior to

noon on Thursday June 20, 2019. Displays may be placed on

Wednesday night June 19, 2019 from 6 - 8pm

4. Articles exhibited in Section B, C, D, and E must be worked on

or constructed in the 2018-2019 school year.

5. 3 4-H Clubs required to complete a Class.

Open to any child up to Grade 6, one entry per class. There is no

charge for membership. Age and Grade must be on upper part of

entry ticket to aid with judging. Articles must be placed in the

Complex Hall on Thursday June 20, 2019 between 9:00 am and

noon and picked up by at 3:30 pm on Sunday June 23, 2019

NOTE: The Complex Hall will be open for placing articles on

Wednesday, June 19 from 6:00 pm- 8:00 pm for those who cannot

come in Thursday morning.

All baking must be placed in large plastic bags. No prepared

mixes to be used!
