KOREAN New Year KCC-SPONSORED EVENTS /KCC UPCOMING EVENTS University of Asia and Pacific Book Exhibit and Caravan February 19-22, 2013 University of Asia and the Pacific In an effort to promote Korean culture and tourism to academic commu- nities, the Korean Cultural Center, and the Korea Tourism Organization in partnership with University of Asia and the Pacific will be holding a Korean Culture Caravan in UA&P's week-long East Asia Festival on February 19 to 22 at the University of Asia and the Pacific, Ortigas, Quezon City. /RECENT EVENTS /KCC-SPONSORED EVENTS /KOREAN NEW YEAR Korean New Year, commonly known as Seol-lal (Hangul: 설날), is the first day of the lunar calendar. It is the most important of the traditional Korean holidays. Korean New Year is typically a family holiday. The three-day holiday is used by many to return to their hometowns to visit their parents and other relatives. Many Koreans dress up in colorful traditional Korean clothing called Hanbok. Moreover, an interesting thing is that most of the Koreans extreme- ly get trapped in a traffic jam. New Year celebration at KCC The KCC will hold Korean New Celebration on Feb- ruary 8 (Friday), 2-5PM and want you to get to expe- rience how Koreans celebrate the Lunar New Year (Seollal) here in KCC. You can make your own mini pouch, play Korean Traditional games, try on Han- bok and get to taste Korean Rice Cakes. Registration starts February 04, 2013 at noon. Hanji Doll Exhibit Opening at the Podium The Korean Cultural Center, in cooperation with The Podium, held the Hanji Doll Craft Exhibit last January 9th as part of its efforts to promote Korean culture to the Filipinos. Gukak National Middle School Traditional Music Concert at KCC The students from the Gukak national middle school gave a presentation at the Korean Cultural Center, in promotion of Korea’s traditional musi- cal art forms and instruments. The concert was held on January 17, at the Center’s Korean Wave Hall. Workshop for Travel to Korea Book and Singing at National Book Store The workshop is target at the free and easy traveler who are beginners travelling to Korea. At the end of one and half hours workshop and book signing, you will get to know moving around in Korea, sharing experience on Korea home Stay Program by KTO, zoom in at popular drama locations, useful websites, and a book signing event. University of Asia and Pacific Book Exhibit and Caravan

The students from the Gukak national middle school gave a presentation at the Korean Cultural Center, in promotion of Korea’s traditional musi-cal art forms and instruments. The concert was held on January 17, at the Center’s Korean Wave Hall.
