The First Woman President KCC-SPONSORED EVENTS /KCC UPCOMING EVENTS /RECENT EVENTS /KCC-SPONSORED EVENTS /PARK GEUN-HYE: FIRST CONTACT “The Invasion Continues” with MBLAQ, EXCITE and TWO X MINHWA: The Meaning of Symbols in Folk Painting The Korean Cultural Center and the Associa- tion of Korean Folk Paint- ing Artists will be opening the exhibit Minhwa: The Meaning of Symbols in Folk Painting on March 8, featuring eight Korean art- ists whose works highlight the importance of Minhwa or folk painting in the Ko- rean socio-historical land- scape. The exhibit features the works of KIM Sang Cheol, LEE Mun Song, LEE Jung Dong, EOM Jae Kwon, SONG Chang Soo, YOUN In Soo, KEUM Goang Bok and NOH Yong Sik. The exhibit runs until April 30. SEOLLAL 설날 (Korean Lunar New Year’s Day) Filipinos experienced how Koreans celebrate the Lunar New Year (Seol- lal) here in the KCC on February. People could make their own mini pouch- es, play Korean Traditional games, try on Hanbok and get to taste Korean Rice Cakes. MBLAQ, EX- CITE and TWO X Live Concert will be held in Manila on March 31, 5 pm at ALIW Theater. The event will be fea- turing MBLAQ and two rookie group, EXCITE and TWO X. President Park Geun-hye has officially begun her five-year term as the 18th Korean president since her inauguration last February 25. As the leader of the Republic of Korea, her five major goals are building a “creative economy focusing on job creation,” “customized employment and welfare,” “a life of culture and creativity education,” “a society of safe- ty and integration,” and “building a foundation for the happy reunification of the Korean Peninsula.” Korean Culture Caravan at UA&P The Korean Cultural Center, together with the Korea Tourism Organiza- tion held a Korean Culture Caravan at the UA&P from February 19 to 22. The caravan had highlighting the 21 icons of Korean Culture through the KCC Library collection and Photo Exhibit and a special class on Sagunja. MINHWA: The Meaning of Symbols in Folk Painting
