NAPLAN Online 2020 This year Kawungan State School Year 3 and 5 students will complete NAPLAN using online test administration. The only session that won’t be online will be the Year 3 Writing. As such, we are making sure that students are ready for this by ensuring they feel comfortable using the technology to answer the questions. Students will conduct practice tests leading up to NAPLAN on 12th - 21st May, 2020. There is also a public website for any parents to visit

who wish to have a look at how their child will view the tests. The address is: https://www.nap.edu.au/online-assessment. On the left hand side is a section titled ‘Public Demonstration Site’. If you have any further queries or concerns, please contact Deputy Principal, Mr David Lawton or Deputy Principal, Mrs Rachel Burke. Prep N WOW! What a great start to the year for our new prep students! In Prep N, we have been learning all about the school rules:-

Be Safe Be Respectful Be Responsible We made a ‘Class Rule’ book and students take the book home to show their parents. Before we can learn to read and write, we have to have phonological awareness. Therefore, in Prep N we have been doing many activities to build these skills, for example; clapping/counting syllables, recognising rhyme and identifying the first sound in words. Here we are developing these skills!

Another important area to develop in the early years is our fine and gross motor skills. Fine motor skills are small movements, such as picking up small objects

and holding a spoon. Gross motor skills are the bigger movements, such as rolling over, sitting and kicking. Here we are developing these skills!

So much fun in Prep
