Dear PACS Family,
Prince Avenue Christian School is pleased to announce that, through the faithful generosity of friends and alumni, the following scholarships are available for the 2015-2016 school year. If you are interested in applying for these scholarships, download the attached applications, visit our website, or come by the reception area in the school office for an application. ALL applications must be returned to the school office no later than August 20, 2015.
1. William H. Ricketts Scholarship
Established by PACS to honor Rev. Bill Ricketts, pastor of Prince Avenue Baptist Church
Awarded to one 11th or 12th grade student in good standing
$1,500 awarded annually
Based on the student’s commitment to the Lord, commitment to his or her church’s ministry, and desire to serve Christ in his or her daily life
Application required
2. Jon Desso Scholarship
Established in memory of Jon Desso, PACS alumnus
Awarded to one male and one female 9th through 12th grade student in good standing
Approximate Half Tuition for the 2015-2016 school year
Based on financial need, scholastic achievement (min. 2.5 GPA), discipleship, committed personal relationship with Christ and loyalty to friends
Application, financial information and grade report required
3. The Shoff Foundation Scholarship
Established by Richard Mason and family in loving memory of Shelton T. Shoff
Awarded to one or more Kindergarten through 12th grade students in good standing
Full or partial tuition for 2015-2016 school year
Based on financial need

4. Ruby Evelyn Brown Memorial Scholarship
Established by the Brown Family in memory of Ruby Evelyn Brown
Awarded to one 1st through 12th grade student in good standing
$1,000 awarded annually
Based on financial need

5. Kathy Stamatinos Geyer Memorial Scholarship
Established in memory of Kathy Stamatinos Geyer, former teacher & parent of PACS
Awarded to one or more 1st through 12th grade students with at least 3.5 GPA in good standing

Based on scholastic achievement and financial need

6. Chick-fil-A Christian Service Scholarship
Established by Shane and Carri Leigh Todd and family
Awarded to one 1st through 12th grade student in good standing
$1,500 awarded annually
Based on extraordinary Christian service in the community and financial need

7. Christopher Lee Newcomer Memorial Scholarship
Established by an anonymous donor in memory of Christopher Lee Newcomer, former PACS student
Awarded to one Pre-K through 5th grade student in good standing
$500 awarded annually
Based on Christ-like characteristics and a passion for learning
Recipient will be nominated by the faculty and selected by the scholarship committee

8. Reg Gattie Memorial Scholarship
Established in memory of Reginald Gattie, music minister at PABC
Awarded to 9th through 12th grade student in good standing
$1,000 awarded annually
Based on students desire to use their God given musical talent to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ in an extraordinary way through their leadership and Christian character; this student should plan to major or minor in music

9. The Asher Foundation Scholarship
Established by the family of Ward Asher Elrod, who was born with hydrocephalus; a condition in which the spinal fluid in the brain will not drain properly
Awarded to 1st through 12th grade student in good standing
$2,000 awarded annually
Based on financial need

10. PACS Wolverine Pride Scholarship
Established by The Avenue Wealth Management Group
Awarded to one PACS family in good standing
$500 awarded annually
Based on family involvement in every aspect of the school and showing full Wolverine support

11. Missionary Emergency Fund awarded by the Richard S. Reynolds Foundation
Original Fund incorporated in 1920 and founded by Major A.D. Reynolds
Awarded to 1st through 12th grade student in good standing
$1,000 awarded annually
Based on the student’s commitment to the Lord, commitment to his or her church’s ministry, and desire to serve Christ in the area of missions at home and around the world

The Asher Foundation Scholarship
“For no other foundation can anyone lay
than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” I Corinthians 3:11
This scholarship was established by the family of
Ward Asher Elrod. Ward Asher Elrod was born with hydrocephalus, a condition in which the spinal fluid in the brain will not drain
properly. The Asher Foundation’s sole purpose is to glorify God. The original vision of the Asher Foundation was to reach others affected by hydrocephalus. This original vision has been expanded to reach others as well. Asher is an Old Testament name, meaning “blessing or happy”. The mission of the foundation is to bring happiness and blessings to others both physically and spiritually. Every student in good standing grade 1st through 12th is eligible for this scholarship. This scholarship will be decided and awarded by the Asher Foundation Scholarship Committee. This $2,000 scholarship will be awarded to one Prince Avenue Christian School student based on financial need. This scholarship will be awarded annually. Financial information will need to be provided with this application.

family in loving memory of Mrs. Ruby Evelyn Brown. Every student in good standing grade 1st through 12th is eligible for this scholarship. This scholarship will be decided and awarded by the Ruby Evelyn Brown Scholarship Committee. This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to one Prince Avenue Christian School student based on financial need. This scholarship will be awarded annually. Mr. and Mrs. Shane Todd and Family Every student in good standing grade 1st through 12th is eligible for this scholarship. This scholarship will be decided and awarded by the Chick fil A Scholarship Committee to the student who shows Extraordinary Christian Service in their Community. This $1,500 scholarship will be awarded to one Prince Avenue Christian School student based on community service and financial need. This scholarship will be awarded annually. JON DESSO SCHOLARSHIP This scholarship was established to remember and honor the life of Jon Desso. He was a graduate of Prince Avenue Christian School Class of 2000 and of the University of Georgia. He went home to be with the Lord on November 3, 2004. His friends and family desire to use this tragedy to bring honor to the name of the Lord, which would have been Jon’s desire also. “Don’t store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy them and thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasure in heaven, where no moth or rust destroys them and no thieves break in and steal. To celebrate the life of Reg Gattie
Every 9th-12th grade student in good standing is eligible for this scholarship. This scholarship will be awarded by the Reg Gattie Memorial Scholarship Committee to one student who uses their God given musical talents to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ in an extraordinary way through their leadership and Christian character. This student should plan to major or minor in music. This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded annually to further the student’s studies in the field of music.

This Scholarship was established by the Family and Friends of Kathy Stamatinos Geyer to honor her life.
Every student in good standing grade 1st through 12th is eligible for this scholarship. This scholarship will be decided and awarded by the Kathy Stamatinos Geyer Memorial Scholarship Committee. This scholarship will be awarded to Prince Avenue Christian School students based on a current GPA of 3.5 for 6th-12th or an A average for Lower School Students. This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded annually.

Memorial Scholarship

The Christopher Lee Newcomer Memorial Scholarship was established by an anonymous donor to celebrate the life of a PACS student who went home to be with the Lord in 2010. Every lower school student is eligible for this scholarship. This scholarship is selected by the Christopher Lee Newcomer Memorial Scholarship Committee to one student who exemplifies Christ like characteristics and a passion for learning. This $500 scholarship is awarded annually to one Prince Avenue Christian School student.
The William H. Ricketts Scholarship

This scholarship was established to honor the pastor of Prince Avenue Baptist Church, Bill Ricketts. The recipient will be selected by the pastor of Prince Avenue Baptist Church and will receive the scholarship award in one of the chapel services during the school year. The criteria for this scholarship will be based on the student’s commitment to his or her walk with the Lord, commitment to his or her church’s ministry, and desire to serve Christ in his or her daily life.

This scholarship was established by Mr. Richard Mason and
family in loving memory of Mr. Sheldon T. Shoff.
Every student in good standing grade K5 through 12th is eligible for this scholarship. This scholarship will be decided and awarded by the Sheldon T. Shoff Trust Scholarship Committee. This scholarship will be awarded to Prince Avenue Christian School students based on financial need. The scholarship committee will decide each year if one or more students will be selected. This scholarship will be awarded annually. Financial information will need to be provided with this application.

This Special Scholarship is awarded each year to the PRINCE Family who has demonstrated extraordinary levels of Wolverine Pride. This includes being involved in every aspect of the school and showing full Wolverine Support. This is a $500 Scholarship.
