XL G3™ VideoProbe® System – further information…

Mobile measuring stationSome joints or junctions are extremely dif-ficult to get to while other openings are sohard to reach that some inspections cansoon turn into small climbing expeditions.

That’s why it’s so important to have theright kind of inspection equipment – equip-ment that is easy and comfortable to carry,but doesn’t slip or slide away when carryingout inspections on different or difficult sur-faces. And that’s also why our designerspaid so much attention to achieving an es-pecially high level of mobility when desig-ning and developing the new XL G3 System.

The portable XL G3 base unit, which isequipped with its own light source anda retention drum for the probe, wasdesigned especially to manage in-spection data.

A mobile cart trolley protects thevideoscope against anydamage that might oc-cur during transport,and it can also be

used as a workstation,allowing the unit to be operated straightfrom the case. The appliance’s lightweightand compact form adds even further to theunit’s effectiveness and mobility.

All the accessories that belong to the sys-tem are contained in the lid of the case,meaning that all the parts you need arenever more than an arm’s length away.

Networking in real-timeThe XL G3 is not only a measuring station– it is also a complete and comprehen-sive real-time information centre withthe best possible connections across thewhole globe:

The powerful computer platform, the nu-merous integrated interfaces and a wholehost of software functions allow you touse the XL G3 directly on the spot to or-ganize your inspection data, make andsave images and videos or send themto any place in the world via the internet,where they can then be assessed byother experts or members of the teamwho cannot be present at the site wherethe inspections are being carried out.

The inspection data can also be trans-ferred to PCs or memory cards for docu-mentation purposes or burnt on CD or DVD for distribution using the built-in drive.

Optionally available accessories such as a keyboard and a voice recognition pro-gram can help you to supply your texts, di-agrams and all your inspection images with annotations, arrows and company lo-gos which add to the information value andthe substance of your inspection reports.

Easy to useDespite a wide variety of different fea-tures and functions, the XL G3 is still in-credibly easy to use and equipped witha number of additional features whichhave been especially designed to speedup the inspection process and increaseproductivity.

A self-explanatorymenu navigationguides the userunerringly throughall the functions

that the system has to offer and an inte-grated Data Manager allows you to com-pile data, or move the data to differentplaces in the internal memory or save in-formation on different types of externaldata storage media.

Apart from that inspection images canbe loaded onto the computer for ar-chiving, calibrating, compilation or forcarrying out comparative analyses andsent via email. Audio annotations can berecorded using a built-in microphone.

The texts in the software menu are avail-able in more than eleven languages – amust for multinational companies and or-ganisations.

Extremely robustThe XL G3 System is an especially robustconstruction, built to stand up to the harsh-est of conditions and the roughest andtoughest of inspection environments.

The base unit consists of aluminium hous-ing with a shock absorbing rubber rein-forcement and a handset made of poly-carbonate with integrated elastomer bol-ster.

The videoscope probes are water resist-ant and durable. The integrated temper-ature warning system protects the probeagainst damage in especially hot envi-ronments – ideal, for example, for inspect-ing aircraft turbines.

The flexible tungsten wire mesh coateddistal end guarantees long-lastingstrength and toughness and constantlyhigh performance with regard to articu-lation properties.

The laser-welded titanium camera headand the double-woven tungsten-coatedprobe also provide improved shock re-sistance and a substantial increase instrength.

Furthermore, the XL G3 is also equippedwith a shockproof built-in monitor – evenabrupt or sudden sharp movements canhardly damage the equipment.

The XL G3 VideoProbe® System is equipped with a bundle of highly sophisticated functions that guarantee better and faster inspections :

The high resolution widescreen TFT dis-play providescrisp and crys-tal, true-colourimages which allow exact andconclusive dam-age analysis.

The ergonomically-formed handsetand the intuitive joystick control allowthe user to operate the system preciselyand comfortably with only one hand,while the large keys and built-in micro-phone which can be used for voice an-notations offer another big plus regard-ing user-friendliness and effectivity. Theshock-absorbing rubber border strip andthe spring cushioned colour displayprotect the handset against bumps andknocks and further damage.

The wireless remotecontrol allows you tohave your hands freefor other things.

Interchangeable QuickChange® probesallow you to adjust the length and thediameter of your probes on the spot to best suit your needs.

Enhanced connection possibilities The base unit is equipped with a compactflash card slot as well as USB 2.0 andEthernet ports for quick data transfer,networking and internet access.

Access to the internet allows you to lookat product handbooks and service manu-als or send reports or image data via e-mail.

Furthermore, the system is equipped withan S-video interface as well as a VGA mon-itor output for external displays.

Optional DVD drive for storing large quantities of data like,for example, films directly to DVD.

The compact base unit with the built-in light source acts as a portable work-station and can be used to manage in-spection data as needed. The retentiondrum protects the probe effectivelyagainst damage.

The optionally available endoscopecamera can also be used to mountany fixed or flexible endoscopes that you may already have onto the XLG3 System.
