HI all, I would like pass a huge thanks to everyone involved in running this event; our committee, club members and all our sponsors especially Rick and the Mainland Karting South Team. All feedback received has been very positive and as a club we can tick that off and say we ran a
successful event. This has been another great opportunity for our own developing racing drivers to test themselves alongside some of the highest level of drivers in the country. Congratulations to you all for acquitting our club so well, I’m sure you will have benefited from the experience and we
will see improvements in your driving.
Like all major undertakings there are areas that next time around could be improved so we are taking note of those learnings for future organizing committees to refer back to. If any members
have any suggestions please pass them on to me, or any committee member.
Having got through this pretty big year for us it’s time to take a short break until the end of January. I would like to wish everyone a happy and safe Christmas and New Year, and I hope Santa
brings you all that new kart gear you’re hankering after.

FROM THE TOWER STAFFA big thank you to the young people who were runners from the Tower to the Results board
during the South Islands - McKenzie and Isabella Wild, Luca Burns, Aleesha Morton and Corbyn
Shuttleworth. You did a great job despite the rain and mud and your help was much appreciated.
Is anyone is keen to learn the tower (amb) starter, lapscorer? We are in great need of help!
Please see Nigel
TRACK HIRE – BUCKET BIKES The Bucket Motorbikes are back using our
track again, after a few years away regrouping. They are on the track on Wednesday evenings
through the summer months. Which means the track isn’t available for club members during this time. We get an income stream from this
track hire, which of course is a good help to the coffers.
TRACK GATE KEY RESPONSIBILITY Members are reminded of the responsibility that
goes along with being issued a track key, and using the track for personal practice:-
· Membership must be current· Close the gate, to keep joy-riders from cruising in· Members under 18 years age must have a guardian taking responsibility for their activity· Only one age group on the track at a time· Full kart apparel must always be worn while in the kart· Any non-members given a drive must be signed in on the Trial Drive Indemnity forms available in the Pits Notice Board· If you find any damage around the facilities, eg broken board on a fence, please report it to a committee member
Whats up!

Jamie Conroy has burst on to the New Zealand motor racing scene, winning all his races at his first ever national championship meeting. The unheralded Invercargill driver,
22, claimed three wins from three starts at Timaru in the first round of the New Zealand Formula Ford championship. Title
favourite Michael Collins from Christchurch, who finished third in the championship last year, started favourite and he
qualified fastest.
“But I got off the line a bit better at the start of race one and was ahead by the first corner,” Conroy, who had his first
Formula Ford race in September, said.
“I led all the races all the way but Michael had about the same speed. He’s a good driver – he doesn’t make mistakes
and he’s a nice person to race against.”
Conroy, who has 12 years of kart racing behind him, is racing the Mygale that took James Munro to the title last year. He
said he had greatly benefited from the advice of former Formula One engineer Wal Wilmott, who had worked with
Bruce McLaren.
“He was my race engineer for the weekend and it’s priceless to have his wisdom and experience on board,” he said.
Conroy is now planning to contest the full New Zealand championship and the South Island series. Collins finished second in all three races and Aaron Marr from Wanganui was third each time. Championship points: Conroy 225, Collins 201, Marr 180, Ryan Yardley 162, Grant Campbell 147. For full race championship details visit www.nzracechamps.org.nz

Hello from the new canteen team! We’ve got a few exciting plans in mind for the canteen. We would like volunteers to help us out for the rest of this year. For the smaller meetings we plan to open the canteen for just a few hours over lunch, not all day, to allow our volunteers time to watch
their karters race, and not be tied up in the canteen all day. Pam and Johanna would like to thank everyone who helped in the
canteen for the South Island Champs.
We have the following meetings coming up:• D E C E M B E R 7 - Xmas Club Day• J A N U A R Y 2 5 - Club Twilight 1• F E B U A R Y 2 2 - Club Twilight 2
