KARTSPORT TARANAKI NEWSLETTER | Issue 47 PAGE 1 Newsletter of KartSport Taranaki A really exciting newsletter this month as I get to tell everyone of Logan Boyde’s and Nick Isaac’s success at the National SuperKart Championships taking out the top spots on the podium. Heavy rain and drizzle plagued the KartSport New Zealand National SuperKart Championship and New Zealand Grand Prix at Hampton Downs late last month, but two Taranaki drivers were able to conquer the conditions. Logan Boyde and Nick Isaac did their province proud by both claiming New Zealand titles, with Logan locking away the New Zealand Grand Prix title as well. Nick claimed his first New Zealand title in the 15-strong national class with a dominant display in the wet conditions. Managing to get the massive power from the kart's 250cc engine to the ground better than the rest of the field, Nick dominated the practice and qualifying sessions, winning races one and two. Race three saw Nick have a lapse in concentration and end up off the track. However, another win in race four handed him the title. Logan went into the weekend as the firm favourite to win the Rotax Max Light class after a stellar year behind the wheel. He drove with skill and determination all day to outclass his rivals in the very challenging conditions. Steve Boyde wove his magic, tuning the chassis so the victory was a satisfying outcome after spending a year preparing as a team for the meeting as a team. Logan then made it a clean sweep in the Rotax Grand Prix, winning with a 10-second winning margin over the field. The Open Grand Prix saw Alex Geary finish second after struggling in the wet conditions earlier. A number of front running national class karts were taken out in an incident in turn four on the first lap, including Nick Isaac, ending any chance of winning the Grand Prix trophy. Great job Nick and Logan!!!! Club News

Results from our September clubday can be found further down in our newsletter.

We have the Jetsprints here again on 10 & 11 December. Great opportunity to get amongst all the action. Be sure you don’t miss out this time.

Craig Korff has had people going into the Jet sprint track and leaving gates open, letting cattle go where they shouldn’t. Just a reminder that its private property and unless you have business in there you should not go in there. We do not want cattle on our track either)

The entry gate onto the track has had the gate pin removed. Somebody must know where this is. It is a very unlikely thing to have gone missing and just creates safety and replacement issues for other people. Does anyone know where it is please? If you happen to come across this please hand it into the kitchen or one of the race officials at the next club day.

Would you believe WPKA Goldstar Series is about to get underway. Head to our website and fill in your entry form. This is a great event if you would like the opportunity to pit yourself against some great drivers. Follow the link below www.kartsporttaranaki.co.nz/

A heads up! Our track will be closed to all club members on December 4 due to Motorcycle training.

If you have been at an event; I would love to hear from you, so I can put a report in our newsletter. Contact me on [email protected]

Presidents Report – Mike Jury

Hi All, Hope you all had a good long weekend. We attended the North Island Champs in Hastings along with the Smiths and Aaron Marr from Taranaki. Was a good weekend with some very trying conditions at times. Good result for Aaron to come 2nd in Open. Brendon came 4th in Open and Logan Smith finished 15th in Vortex Mini ROK. Well done guys. We have a busy time coming up in the next couple of months with Club Day this weekend, Goldstar and then Club Champs in November followed by Jetsprints and Club Day in December. I hope to see lots of entries from Taranaki for Goldstar. It’s a great event for all drivers wanting some experience in larger fields with good friendly competition. If anyone has any questions about Goldstar, feel free to

call myself or Maurice. We will help any way we can. We have a working bee at the track on Tuesday 1st November after work for all that can attend. We need to tidy up the track for the next couple of months events so hope to see lots of you there. I will see you all at Club Day on Sunday. It’s Round 3 of the Winter Series and we are running in Clockwise direction. Weather looking good at this stage. Thanks, Mike.

Nice clean driving in the V8s don’t

you think?

Reaching the end of a job interview, the Human Resources Officer asks a young engineer fresh out of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, "And what starting salary are you looking for?" The engineer replies, "In the region of $125,000 a year, depending on the benefits package." The interviewer inquires, "Well, what would you say to a package of five weeks vacation, 14 paid holidays, full medical and dental, company matching retirement fund to 50% of salary, and a company car leased every two years, say, a red Corvette?" The engineer sits up straight and says, "Wow! Are you kidding?" The interviewer replies, "Yeah, but you started it."

Quote of the month

Teacher: "If I gave you 2 cats and another 2 cats and another 2, how many would you have?"

Johnny: "Seven."

Teacher: "No, listen carefully... If I gave you two cats, and another two cats and another two, how many would you have?"

Johnny: "Seven."

Teacher: "Let me put it to you differently. If I gave you two apples, and another two apples and another two, how many would you have?"

Johnny: "Six."

Teacher: "Good. Now if I gave you two cats, and another two cats and another two, how many would you have?"

Johnny: "Seven!"

Teacher: "Johnny, where in the heck do you get seven from?!"

Johnny: "Because I've already got a freaking cat!"
