2. Introduction The name of my country is Qatar. The capital is Doha.Qatar is a member of the Persian gulf in the middle east. The main language is Arabic. Its border is Saudi Arabia. Qatar is in Asia. 3. Major Cities There are a lot of cities in Qatar, but only one capital which is Doha. Doha is located on the coast of the Persian gulf and its the biggest city in Qatar. Al Khor is the fifth biggest city in Qatar. Its located on the eastern edge of the shore of the Persian gulf. 4. Major Landmarks The Aspire tower is 300 meters high (946ft) with 36floors. Its also known as the Torch Hotel. Its located in the Doha Sports City complex.Villagio Mall is a shopping center located in Doha. 5. Major Landforms Qurayn Abu Al Bawl is the highest point in Qatar. Its103 meters high. Its located near the borders of Saudi Arabia. The Pearl is an artificial island. Its nearly 4 million square meters! 6. History Qatar has long history. Qatar was only a land ofnomands and had small fishing villages. Then in 1868 Al Thani family ruled Qatar. In 1916 Al Thani family agreed with Britain that Britain will rule the foreign affairs. In September 3, 1971 Qatar gained independence from Great Britain. 7. Clothing The Thoub is the cultural costume for men. Its longand it reaches till their ankle. The color is mostly white. Young boys wear a cap called Gahfeya and men wear a Gurthra. The Guthra is a squared piece of fabric that is designed with red and white or black and white squares. The women wear the Abaya. Its a long black cloak that they wear over their clothes. 8. Holidays Qatar National Day is celebrated on December 18.National Sports Day is on the second Tuesday of February. Independence Day is on September 3. Eid Al Adha and Eid Al Fitr are also celebrated in Qatar. 9. Food In Qatar they eat Hummus. Its a dip made ofchickpeas and sesame seed paste. Waraq Enab, is vine leaves stuffed with rice. Tabolleh, is a kind of salad. Koussa Mahshi, is stuffed squash. 10. Music The music is based on Bedouin poetry, song, anddance. Traditional dances are performed in Doha Friday afternoons. The instruments they use are Al-Ras, Tambourine, Cymbals, Oud, Rebaba, and the Arabic Flute. 11. Native Animals The animals that live in Qatar are desert animals. Theyare: The Oryx is of most popular ones in Qatar. The Daab Lizard is a medium sized wild lizard which eats insects which are between 14 to 36 inches. There are also Camels and Hedgehogs. 12. Story Behind The Flag The white stands for peace. The maroon stands for theshed and blood during the in the second half of the 19 century. The nine points shows that Qatar is the ninth member of the Persian gulf. 13. Travel Tips There are a lot of attractions in Qatar. Some examplesare: Souq Waqif, Doha Corniche Park, Desert Safari, Cruise on a Dhow, Kingdom Of Aladdin Entertainment Park, and Msheireb Enrichment Center: Floating Museum and much more! 14. Population The population in Qatar is 1.8 million people, but only250,000 of them are citizens. The rest are foreigners that live and work there. 15. Conclusion If you like nice weather go to Qatar because there itsmostly sunny. If you have kids below 15 you could take them to King Of Aladdin Entertainment Park.
