On December 11, 2008, the Senate approved S. Res. 710 by unanimous consent, which declares the week of February 2 - 6, 2009, "National Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Week." In 2010, United States Senator Mike Crapo-R,  joined with the Department of Justice to promote a resolution in the Senate designating the month of February, not just one week, as Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month. The Senate passed that resolution unanimously, making February 2011 the first ever Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month. In suite, Kaity’s Way will have an exhibit table at the event. Kaity’s Way will travel to Ajo, AZ February 7 th  through 9 th speaking at various events from the local Ajo High School students to presenting Kaity’s Law & story to patrons of the Ajo Library. Kaity's Way will also share Kaity's Story with the students of three separate classes at Nogales High School in Nogales, AZ February 15,2011. The presentation arrangements were coordinated by Sandra Anguiano of Mariposa Community Health Center in conjunction with Mrs. Susana Abreu, a teacher at Nogales High School. The Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Initiative was spearheaded by teenagers across the nation who chose to take a stand and put a stop to teen dating violence. Initiated in 2004 by the American Bar Association and now supported by over fifty national, state and local organizations, the call to end teen dating violence has been formally recognized in the Senate in 2006, 2007, 2008 and now, 2009. Each year, the Senate has declared the first full week in February "National Teen Dating Violence Awareness and P revention Week." The crime of teen dating violence, including physical, emotional and sexual assault, and harassment via texting, email or Instant Messaging is a cruel reality for many American teenagers--a reality of which many parents are unaware. Kaity’s Way is ecstatic that Teen Dating Violence is gaining the necessary awareness and support through legislation to help put an end to violence.
