CONTROLS

Cancel ButtonThe toasting process can be stopped at any time by pressing the cancel button.

Defrost FunctionThe defrost function allows you to toast bread straight from the freezer. Insert the bread into the toasting slots, then press the loading handle down and press the defrost button. The defrost button will illuminate and the toaster will extend the cooking time to allow for the bread to defrost and toast. Do keep an eye on your toast to ensure it does not burn.

Reheat FunctionThe reheat function will allow you to heat up toast that has cooled or gone cold. Press the loading handle down, then press the reheat button. The reheat indicatorlight will illuminate. As your bread is already toasted, keep an eye on the toast to ensure that it does not burn. Only use this function for dry toast, not buttered toast.

High-lift FeatureThe high lift feature uses the loading handle to help you to remove the toast. When toasting has finished, simply lift the loading handle upwards from its rest position to raise the toast. This is ideal for smaller items such as crumpets.

USING THE TOASTER

WARNING: Never force bread into the toasting slots. Bread should fit easily into the toasting slots. Never toast slices of bread that have been buttered.

• Set the required level of toasting by turning the browning control from left to right. The higher the setting, the darker the toast will be.

• Place the bread into the toasting slots. You can toast one or two slices of bread at once, but be sure to only put one slice of bread into each slot. Press the loading handle down until it locks into place.Note: The loading handle will not lock into place if the toaster is not connected to a power supply.

• When toasting is finishing, the loading handle will rise and the toasted bread can be removed. You can lift the loading handle upwards beyond its resting position to help you remove the toast.

• If the toast is not done enough, you can toast it further. Turn the browning control to a lower setting and keep a careful eye on the toast to ensure thatit doesn't burn.

• Toasting can be stopped at any time by pressing the cancel button.

Note: In the unlikely event that the bread becomes jammed, switch off the toasterat the power outlet before carefully easing out the bread, taking care not to damage the heating element.

TOASTING NOTES

WARNING: Never use your toaster with any food item that contains sugar, or any product that contains jam or preserves.

Toasting is a combination of cooking and drying the bread.Moisture levels differ from one bread to another, which can result in varying toasting times. For slightly dry bread, use a lower setting than normal. For fresh bread or whole wheat bread, use a higher setting than normal.Breads which have a very uneven surface will require a higher setting.Thicker cut pieces of bread (including crumpets) will take longer to toast (sometimes significantly longer). This is because more oisture must be evaporated from the bread before toasting can occur. Very thick slices of bread may require two toasting cycles. When toasting raisin or other fruit breads, remove any loose fruit from the surface of the bread before putting it into your toaster. This will help to prevent fruit pieces from falling into your toaster or sticking to the guard wires in the toasting slot.

Single slice toasting

If you are toasting a single slice of bread, set the browning control to a lower setting than normal. Your toaster is designed to heat four slices of bread at a time. By lowering the browning control when toasting a single slice of bread, it will not be over toasted.

CLEANING

Before cleaning the toaster, unplug it from the mains supply and allow it to cool down completely.Clean the outer surface with a soft damp cloth only.

Never immerse any part of your toaster, its cord or plug into water or any other liquids.

Crumb removal

It is important that crumbs are not allowed to build up inside the base of the toaster.Crumbs can be removed by simply sliding the crumb tray out at the bottom of your toaster. You can then tip the crumbs out. Always ensure that the toaster has cooled down and is disconnected from the power supply before carrying out this operation. Replace the crumb tray before connecting the toaster to the power supply or reusing it again.Never touch the internal parts of the toaster with a brush or any other implement.
