Junkyard Dog Industries™ is known for their crashed vehicle stabilization, rescuer safety, and patient protection

products. Starting with their famous JYD Rescue Struts which became increasingly popular over the years, JYD

listened to their customer’s requests and added lifting equipment, gear bags, and other useful equipment to help

you overcome challenges during auto extrication.

Junkyard Dog Industries Life-Saver Recognition Award

Junkyard Dog Industries has created a new program to recognize lifesaving efforts performed by our customers

while utilizing Junkyard Dog Struts and Sidewinders during an extrication. The Life-Saver and will be awarded

to the crew or team in actual contact with the equipment at the rescue scene.

Criteria for the award consideration will be the following:

The use of the JYD Strut and/or Sidewinder devices in an actual emergency event where the use was a

factor in extrication or retrieving the casualty.

The use of the JYD Strut and/or Sidewinder in an unusual circumstance or emergency event that made the

outcome positive.

A department is requested to submit to Junkyard Dog Industries a detailed incident report explaining how the

equipment was utilized and listing the personnel involved. Additionally, any photographs of the incident would

be helpful.

If selected the individual personnel will receive a certificate of recognition and a label pin indicating the Life-

Saver achievement. Additionally, a Life-Saver decal will be sent to place on the apparatus that carries the JYD

equipment acknowledging the lifesaving effort. Awardees and a description of the event will be featured on the

JYD website, as well.

SMASH Packexe® SMASH Glass Management system provides a remedy to handling both tempered and laminated

glass on rescue scenes. Glass is a hazard during the extrication process and can finally be handled in a more

efficient and safe manner. The SMASH system allows application of specially formulated adhesive that holds

glass upon shattering in all weather conditions. The dispenser applies the adhesive film quickly. Perforations on

the film permit easy and exact placement on the surface. Glass can be broken and removed in entire sections

eliminating shards and pieces. Proven to strengthen glass up to 42%, Packexe® SMASH has eliminated the need

to forcibly break and remove it. Just leave it in place during the extrication process! A non-perforated hand-roll

provides glass management of laminated glass inside and outside the vehicle reducing airborne particles.

Stabilizing & Lifting on All Fours

For quick 2 or 4 point stabilization. The Sidewinder

can be used to release weight on the suspension, elimi-

nating the need to deflate tires. When in need, a partial

or total lift of the vehicle can be accomplished easily.

Stabilizing & Lifting a Side Rollover

Used in conjunction with other stabilization devices,

the Sidewinder’s pivoting heads can adjust to sloping

angles for quick action. While tethered to a strut, a

vehicle can be lifted using the Sidewinder.

Stabilizing & Lifting a Roof Rollover

Using a pair of Sidewinders under the roof rail,

stabilization is efficient and positive. Lifting the rear

upward is fast and effective. Placing them under the

A-Post/Hood area lifts the front end as well.

Other Uses

The Sidewinder is primarily designed for automobile

use. However, other applications exist in rescue

operations, including USAR and special operations.

Sidewinder Bag

Designed to carry a Sidewinder with an interior pocket for

the speed wrench and a hook & barb strap for the second

head. It’s roomy enough to add a battery impact wrench

and other accessories. The tough bottom provides extra

structure to help maintain its shape and from absorbing

fluids from the rescue scene. Includes a noncorrosive

double zipper, reflective striping, carrying handles, and a

reinforced shoulder strap.

Hydraulic Hose Bag

Designed to hold ground line sections of hydraulic

rescue tool hose to keep them properly coiled and to

protect the couplings. The material does not absorb

mineral oil hydraulic fluid thus keeping the bag from

attracting dirt. Each bag is designed to hold from 72 to

100 feet of hydraulic hose line, depending on the

manufacturer. A hook & barb strap secures the large

opening closed. Two carry handles provide easy

maneuverability of hoses, while a handle at the bottom

allows quick release of the hose line(s) from the bag.

Designed to carry additional equipment such as

R.I.T. Bag

Designed for Rapid Intervention Teams to carry spare

breathing apparatus to a downed firefighter/rescuer.

Two attached compartments hold: A 60 minute

compressed air cylinder, a second stage regulator. 30

feet of air hose, and additional rapid intervention

equipment to supply a trapped victim. Hook & barb

enclosures with tabs secure the openings to each

compartment. A reinforced opening between the 2

compartments permits the hose line to travel from the

cylinder to the supply device. An adjustable 40.5”

reinforced/padded shoulder strap has metal split-hook

spring loaded fasteners for easy release.

Cribbing Bag

For plastic or wood cribbing, this bag can hold up to

(9) 4” x 4” pieces. This four sided bag allows quick

access to the cribbing pieces, but keeps them secure

during transport. Two double adjustable straps with

plastic clips hold the bag and contents together.

Carrying handles across the top are for walking and a

handle at the bottom front for removal from the

apparatus compartment. Two small openings in the

bottom corners allow moisture run-off. Reinforced

bottom for durability.
