This past week, we returned to what is known as "Ordinary Time." The primary li-turgical color returns to green and the Paschal Candle will be moved back to

the baptism font area and be lit for bap-tisms and funerals. The term "ordinary" is not meant to diminish this time of year as if it is not important to our spir-itual growth. Rather, it simply indi-cates that we are not in one of the spe-cial church seasons that has a particular emphasis on some aspect of the life of Christ, such as Advent and Christmas (The Incarnation), and Lent and Easter (The Paschal Mystery). During this time, we focus on learning about the particulars of our faith, the things Jesus commanded us, and study what he taught in His public ministry in both word and deed. This year, of course, we focus on the Gospel of Matthew in our Sunday Masses.

However, before returning to Matthew’s Gospel, we have two special celebrations this weekend and next. Today is Trinity Sunday, and we cele-brate God revealing Himself in the life and teachings of Jesus as The Most Ho-ly Trinity. This revelation allows us to

better understand God the Father in the life of His Son Jesus, as well as the gift of Grace to imitate Jesus' life by the power of the Holy Spirit. Since we have come to know God’s Trinitarian nature through the life of Jesus and His teach-ings, we celebrate God revealing Him-self to us in this way. Next Sunday, we will conclude our special feasts by cele-brating Jesus being with us until the end of time in the Eucharist. This cele-bration is commonly known as Corpus Christi, or formally The Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ.

After these celebrations, we will remain in Ordinary Time until our new year, which is the 1st Sunday of Advent. As always, we should continue to learn about Jesus and our faith through Sa-cred Scripture and the sacramental lit-urgies, especially Mass and Confession. Our journey towards Christ should be constant and consistent, regardless of the time of year!

The Beginning of Summer Break Hopefully, many of us will have the opportunity to take a break and enjoy our families and friends over the sum-mer, with many taking a family vaca-tion. This is a good and healthy thing. It is good to remember though, that dur-ing this time we do not take a vacation from God. This Spring, we've travelled

through the disciplines of Lent and the joys of Easter in an unprecedented way, and hopefully have grown closer to God during this time. Summer vacation is not a time to allow the gains we have made in our relationship with God to diminish. Rather our relationship with God should be strengthened by the re-minders of God's Love provided to us during these special seasons. Regard-less of the time of year, we never take a break from God. As we plan our vaca-tions, wherever they may be, we should be sure to not only plan accommoda-tions and activities, but also how, when and where we will attend Mass. God is with us at all times. The question for us is whether we remain with Him!

Fr. Pitre’s departure… As you all probably know by now, Fr. Pitre will be leaving us in the beginning of July to become Associate Pastor at St. Joseph’s in Rayne. Although there is certainly sadness in seeing him depart, we appreciate the good work he has done here at St. Pius X in serving our community. His last Masses here will be the weekend of June 27-28. Unfortu-nately due to the pandemic, we will not be able to have a reception for him as usual. However, please mark your cal-endars for that weekend to stop by, and wish him good luck and God’s blessing in his new assignment.

Priesthood Ordination First Mass

Celebrations

Sunday, June 7th 8:00 a.m. 10:30 a.m. (Mass of Thanksgiving) Fr. Andrew Killeen will be available after both Masses to give blessings.

Hello St. Pius X parishioners! On June 6, 2020, Bishop Douglas De-shotel will ordain myself and Dcn. John Joseph of Jesus Crucified to the order of the priesthood.

Ever since I was young, I have always felt this call. Many of you can testify because so many of you and your prayers have helped me with this journey. I vividly remember watching the late Msgr. Mouton celebrate mass and saying to myself, “I could do that.” It is humbling to know that I will soon be able to follow in the footsteps of so many priests who helped formed me.

First and foremost, I thank my parents, Daniel, and Lisa Killeen, for their constant love and support. I also thank the faculty and staff of the church and school where my voca-tion to the priesthood was fostered and nourished. Finally, I thank all of you, the parishioners of St. Pius, who have helped me through these many years.

I would not be where I am today if it was not for this church parish. Please know that everyone here will always hold a special place in my heart. Also, I am scheduled to celebrate the 8 am and 10:30 am Sunday masses on June 7th. I hope to see many of you there. Please continue to keep me in your prayers as I begin this new chapter of my life.

Please note that parish facilities are still closed due to sanitization and occupancy limitations. They will remain closed until further notice. If you are able to meet virtually or in a safe way off campus, please do so. When the time comes, we will forward you a plan for reentry.

To continue spending time in prayer, the Church is open daily. Please see the Church hours referenced throughout this bulletin. Adorers are encouraged to pray during Church hours if they are able, and are reminded that the Blessed Sacrament is just as present in the tabernacle as it is in the Monstrance. Additionally, every Wednesday, Adora-tion & Benediction will be held from 6-7 PM (except on June 10th & 17th). On Thursdays, Adoration will be all day—from after the 6 a.m. Mass until 4:45 p.m. Both will be held in the Church and will continue each week until the Chapel is able to reopen.

Please be assured of our prayers for you, and let us know if you have any questions or concerns. We are here to help!

Adult Ministry Update

Please help to welcome Dylan Allen, St. Pius X’s summer seminarian, and see below for a personal

message from him: My name is Dylan Allen, and I am a seminarian for the Diocese of Lafa-yette. I will begin my senior year at St. Joseph’s Seminary College in Covington, Louisiana, in the fall, and this will be my 3rd year in seminary. I am originally from Mandeville, Louisiana, and graduated from Fon-tainebleau High School in 2016. Af-ter graduation, I attended UL right here in Lafayette for 2 years before entering the seminary in August 2018. Here’s a little bit about myself. I am the youngest of 6, and my siblings live across the country from Nevada to Vir-ginia and all in between. I enjoy travelling, hiking, playing tennis, and watching college baseball just to name a few hobbies. I am also an extrovert and love being around peo-ple! So, I look forward to being with you here at St. Pius X for the summer, and if there’s anything I can do for you, feel free to reach out to me! Thank you and God bless! - Dylan Allen

First Prayer to Our Lady O Mary, You shine continuously on our journey as a

sign of salvation and hope. We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick. At the foot of the cross, You partici-

pated in Jesus’ pain with steadfast faith. You, “Salvation of the Roman people,“ know what we need. We are cer-tain that you will provide, so that as you did at Cana of

Galilee, joy and feasting might return after this moment of trial. Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform our-selves to the Father’s will and to do what Jesus tells us. He who took our sufferings upon himself and bore our sorrows, to bring us through the cross, to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen. We seek refuge under your protec-tion, O Holy Mother of God; Do not despise our pleas - we, who are put to the test -and deliver us from every

danger, O Glorious and Blessed Virgin.

If you’d like to continue your generosity through your offertory giving, you may do so by using your envelopes, which can be mailed or dropped off in the night Drop Box out-side of our office. Or, online through our website at https://stpiusxchurch.org/online-giving.
