Havana Cruise
Volunteers Needed!
By Jim Salmi
The Havana Cruise is coming
on Saturday, June 19, and the
Old Car Council really needs
our help. The Cruise goes
from 3-9 PM, and extends
from Dartmouth Avenue to
Sixth Avenue. There are five
sites along the route, featur-
ing food, music and games, as
well as lots and lots of old
cars. We would probably be at
the Wells Fargo bank location,
at 1450 South Havana.
Volunteers will get a T-shirt,
dinner the night before
(Friday) at The Stampede, and
preferred reserved parking at
the sites. Best of all, the club
gets a quarter page ad in the
program. It‟s a good opportu-
nity to publicize the CLC, as
well as the old car hobby in
general.
Those of us who volunteered
at the Colfax Cruise last year
had a good time (as Bob Ly-
ons, who led the event) and
the same should be true this
year.
Please let me know as soon as
possible if you can volunteer.
The OCCC needs to get a list
by June 4, so obviously time is
of the essence. Also, be sure
to let me know your T-shirt
size.

Director’s Column
By John Serfling
Director‟s Column
The 2010 Activities Season is
officially upon us. It started
with an impressive line up of
cars at the Lafayette VFW hall.
As always the hamburgers and
brats were wonderful as were
the libations.
The best part was the people,
however. The turnout was
good in spite of what the
weatherman was predicting.
We were told that there was a
70% chance of rain that day,
but none appeared. The sun
would shine, and then the
clouds would move over us,
then sun, then clouds…. It
was almost funny to watch
people put on jackets or
sweatshirts, then take them
off, then put them back on.
Springtime in the Rockies is a
fickle time of year. You can
read all about it in John Evans‟
article. My only minor disap-
pointment in the day was that
I would have driven my con-
vertible if the rain prediction
had been a little more accu-
rate. I showed up in my less
than sparkling, clean Eldo-
rado. It is actually more fun
to drive than the convertible,
but the convertible looks bet-
ter at a car show. Still, pass-
ers by were interested in the
Eldorado and several told sto-
ries of their parents driving
Cadillacs from the early „70‟s.
Our next activity in May was
the Memorial Day parade in
downtown Denver. You can
read about it and see photos
in the July Dagmar. I didn‟t
think that I would be able to
attend this year. I sing in the
choir at church and our big
production for this season was
on Sunday, May 30. We al-
ways have a dress rehearsal
on the Saturday morning prior
to the performance. That has
prevented me from attending
quite a few events in past
years. Fortunately, the choir
director was occupied Satur-
day morning this year, so our
rehearsal was moved to late
afternoon and I was able to
drive in the parade along with
members who faithfully show
up for this event.
We have three activities sched-
uled for three of the four
weekends in June. The car
clinic at the Washburn estate
kicks off the month. This is
always a good time. We don‟t
just stand around and look at
the pretty cars; we dig into
them and try to improve them.
This year John Washburn has
me listed as one of the me-
chanics. Heaven help us! I do
have a little experience in
working on the A/C controls
of the ‟67 to ‟70 Eldorado
(having cured mine of what
ailed it) and there appears to
be need of such experience.
Reading the manual would
probably provide anyone with
as much help as I am likely to
be able to supply, but I‟ll pro-
vide whatever assistance I can.
The beauty of this event is
that it is members helping
members improve their cars.
The really big activity for 2010
is the High Plains Tour. So
far, 29 people have signed up
for an event that we hoped
would have 8 or 10 partici-
pants. Art Cutler and John
Washburn are to be com-
mended for putting together
an appealing trip. Most of the
information for this appeared
in last month‟s issue of the
Dagmar. Please look there, if
you are still considering join-
ing the group.
The next weekend we have
two activities. They don‟t con-
flict, so you can attend both of
them. The Havana Cruise is
on Saturday, June 19th. Bob
Lyons has coordinated that
affair. Please visit http://
www.onhavanastreet.com/ for
more information. The other
activity is the Father‟s Day pic-
nic and car show on June
20th. Please see the flyer on
the next page for more infor-
mation.
Summer is here, Jim Salmi has
worked hard to provide you
with entertaining activities, so
let‟s get out there and enjoy
them. Thanks to Jim and all
the others who are coordinat-
ing events!

The Third Annual
VFW Car Show
By John Evans
A brief interlude in the three-
day monsoon, provided just
enough broken sunshine
for the hearty folks who ven-
tured out to our third annual
show at the VFW Post in Lafay-
ette. Eleven Cadillacs, one eye
popping Resto-Mod, a Lincoln
Town Car, and a Ford Hot Rod
rounded out an interesting
grouping of classics. Free
drink tickets, burgers, brat-
wurst, and period music were
served up under the big top to
a large group of enthusiastic
auto buffs. During the show,
Tom Calvo (owner of Brothers
II Entertainment), handed out
free 50s music CDs to our CLC
members. Our Third Annual
proved to be another great
day of car talk and camarade-
rie, as we officially kick off our
super list of fun summer
events.

Do You Know This
Car?
By David Leger
We received the following
letter regarding a car from
our area:
I recently purchased a 58 Eldorado Seville,
VIN 58H002348, Argyle blue/blue Vicodec
top, odometer reading 20470. California
license, not running. A Cadillac guy out of
Sandy, Utah named Ed Barton, approxi-
mately 6 or7 years ago purchased this car
from a RMRCLC member.
I am trying to trace the history on this car.
The car is undergoing restoration in Ar-
lington, WA & could be one of the nicest
low mileage 58 Eldorados on the planet. If
you could put this note in your next news-
letter or if someone who knows about this
car.
Thank You, Bob Culliton

A Weekend On Wheels
By Jim Salmi
The old car season gained mo-
mentum on the weekend of
May 22 with the Shepler‟s all
GM (BPOC) show on Saturday,
and the Rossi Run on Sunday.
The show at Shepler‟s looked
like a real success, with over
eighty vintage cars represent-
ing GM‟s major divisions, ex-
cluding Chevrolet. The park-
ing lot is only so big, after all.
Our hosts, the Olds club,
picked a beautiful but very
windy day, and they deserve
our thanks. CLC members
brought a ‟72 Eldorado
(Jonathan McGrew), a ‟65 rag-
top (James Sears), a ‟62 Coupe
deVille (Marvin Mueller), a ‟61
Sedan deVille 6-window (Brad
Bauer), a ‟52 sedan (yours
truly), and a ‟48 club coupe
(Mike Brittan). Nancy Tucker
brought the ‟92 Allante and
Larry Dilts had his ‟92 sedan,
but they chose not to display.
Just lookers, this time. We
even brought home some
awards, with Brad getting
“Best Sedan”, and Michael get-
ting “Best Cadillac”. George
Dameron also got an award
for his beautiful yellow ‟48
Buick. Cadillacers are winners
even when they aren‟t driving
their Cadillacs!
The wind was (relatively) calm
for the Rossi Run on Sunday
morning. The cars assembled
at the Denver Zoo parking lot,
and several club members
showed up to look at cars.
Larry Dilts brought his im-
maculate ‟60 Impala flat-top
sports sedan (see last sen-
tence of previous paragraph)
and I drove the ‟52. A ‟59
white coupe and a ‟35 also
made the trip up to Brighton.
It‟s good exercise for these
beasts, and we probably
should promote this event a
little more. We all got on the
road shortly after 10:00 AM,
and it was an easy drive up to
168th and U.S. 85 to the bring
-your-own picnic lunch. Let‟s
think about making this more
of a club event/mini-tour/
burger run next year.
