APRIL 17, 2016

"Many Jews and worshipers who were converts to Judaism followed Paul and Barnabas, who spoke to them

and urged them to remain faithful to the grace of God. On the following Sabbath almost the whole city

gathered to hear the word of the Lord. When the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and with

violent abuse and they contradicted what Paul said. Both Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly and said, “It

was necessary that the word of God be spoken to you first, but since you reject it and condemn yourselves as

unworthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles. For so the Lord has commanded us. I have made you a

light to the Gentiles, that you may be an instrument of salvation to the ends of the earth.” Acts 13

Dear Parishioners and Friends,

On this fourth Sunday of Easter we continue to read about Paul and Barnabas boldly proclaiming the risen Christ. In spite of facing much resistance and outright persecution, the Apostles proclaim the work of Jesus without fear. They know that the hand of God is leading and guiding them. It is a unstoppable mission that comes from the will of God and is the mission of the church today. So when others might belittle or ridicule us for our Catholic faith, we hold our heads up unashamed, just like Paul and Barnabas.

For Christ IS the real truth and life. He has risen, he is alive!

Let us rejoice and be glad for God remembers his people.

May God bless you! Fr. Gonyo

WHY ON EARTH AM I HERE?

A boat without a rudder usually ends up in the weeds. That's not where

God wants you! God has a purpose for your life…to bring Christ to the world with your hands and your voice. It's your VOCATION.

Today, we celebrate WORLD DAY OF PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS and pray for all Christian vocations –

married, single, ordained, and consecrated religious.

If you would like to talk with someone about a possible vocation to priesthood, please contact the Diocesan Office of Priesthood Vocation Awareness at 585-328-3210 ext. 1374 or visit www.ROCpriest.org for more

information.

Ministry Spotlight!

~ Gardening ~

We have had volunteer seasonal gardeners at St. Rita since 2000 who have cared for the flower and landscape beds around the Church and the school grounds.

How can I help? We have some openings for new volunteers and also a need for new people to share flower beds with an existing gardener in many areas. Please consider this opportunity - the time you put into the gardening will be fun and rewarding. Who do I contact to get involved?

For more information, please contact Joyce Hollander at [email protected] or 585-267-9019.

St. Rita School

Spirit of Learning Corner

Did you know ? . . .

+ St. Rita School has another Girls On The Run team

this year. This is a chapter of the national organization for girls, 3rd to 6th grade. This running club meets twice a week after school to build character and self-esteem through activities and exercise. St. Rita's had to add extra coaches to accommodate all of the girls who were interested. Girls On the Run's mission is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. St. Rita School has 36 girls on this mission who will be running the Girls On The Run 5K on Saturday, June 4th at 5:00pm with over a thousand girls from different chapters of the county.

+ Please congratulate St. Rita students in grades 3-6

on completing New York State tests! They have worked very hard (and their teachers have too!).

A BIG GIRL SCOUT “THANK YOU” TO ALL

The fifth grade Junior Girl Scout Troop 60877 would like to thank our parish family for your generosity with donating ingredients and supplies for our Bronze Award project. We were overwhelmed with donations, collecting about 100 pounds of ingredients, jars and material.

We will now be able to make several recipe jars under the guidance of the wonderful staff at Webster Comfort Care Home. When we are finished, the jars will be sold at many events. Look for these jars at the Webster Farmer’s Market, St Rita’s Craft Sale and at the Webster Comfort Care Home - 700 Holt Road by Klem Rd.

Thank you and God bless you all, Caitlin, Maia and Natalie
