Intercede with Us for the Muslim World! “Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, who has sent you today to meet me. May you be blessed for your good judgment” (I Samuel 25:32, NIV). First Samuel 25 tells the story of Abigail, the godly, wise wife who intervened to save her husband when he foolishly insulted King David. In Muslim nations today, there are godly, wise women who stand in the gap for their husbands and children, even if they cannot openly share their faith. Pray that many will be won through the lives of these “Abigails.”* Today's Prayer Requests: From Students, Alumni, and Missionaries ALBANIA: Missionaries to the Balkan region ask us to pray for “spiritual breakthroughs among unreached Muslim populations. Please pray for the Holy Spirit’s empowerment upon the church in Albania as outreaches are conducted in these areas.” About 70% of Albanians, including the President, follow Islam. Once declared an atheistic state, Albania now grants freedom of religion in its Constitution. Recently the Albanian Evangelical Alliance gained government recognition. For more information, see http://tinyurl.com/mw7tl8b . CHAD: A students requests prayer for the thousands of refugees who have entered Chad to escape the conflict in Central African Republic. Some 97% of them are Muslims. About 40,000 have established themselves in N'Djamena, the capital, and another 20,000 in Moundou, the second city. The Assemblies of God churches are helping to provide for them, and some Muslims are visiting the churches. Pray that the Lord will work in the hearts of these displaced people. Pray for wisdom for pastors and church members as they seize these opportunities to share Jesus' love. NORTHERN GHANA: A student asks us to pray concerning a situation in which Muslims have arrested some women, accusing them of witchcraft. She writes: “I don't know what will happen to them without God's intervention. Pray that God will give the leaders wisdom to handle it and also [that God will] save them.” World Watch List: Pray for the Persecuted** The Middle Eastern emirate of Qatar ranks 19 th on the list of countries where Christians suffer the most persecution. Most of the population is made up of migrant workers; of Qatar's 2 million people, only 300,000 are Qatari-born. Evangelical Christians, mainly migrants, number less than 1%. Christians can meet officially in two designated complexes, which can be monitored, and many meet informally in homes. Those who share their faith with Muslims risk deportation, and Qatari Christians face death. Speaking about a son who wants to become a Christian, a Qatari says: “If he's 10 years old, his dad will show him verses from the Qur'an. If he's 15 years old, his dad will take him to a mosque to teach him lessons. If he's 20 years old, a cousin will kill him or the family will hire someone else to kill him.” Pray that the Lord will protect His people, strengthen their faith, and open doors of witness. Pray that God's Spirit, who can circumvent all restrictions, will reveal himself to those who are seeking Him. For Muslim Women*** Pray for the mothers of Nigeria’s abducted teens to be comforted in their sorrow and grief. Pray for their daughters’ safety and release from captivity. A video released by Boko Haram this week showed about 130 of the girls; 54 have been positively identified. The leader demands the release of prisoners in exchange. Pray for God's intervention.
