Jumaa Prayer 23 November12

Intercede with Us for the Muslim World! “Be perfect, therefor e, as your heavenly Father is perfect” (Mt 5:48). Do we want to be like our heavenly Father? Jesus gives us this command in the context of loving our enemies and praying for those who persecute us. Let us grow in perfection this week as we pray that Muslims will see in us God's love for them! Today's Prayer Requests: From Students and Alumni DR CONGO: A student asks us to pray for a trip he is currently making to Dubai, Saudi Arabia. While there for some  business, he hopes to make contact with some brothers and sisters to share with them the love of God and to encourage them. Please pray for the success of this visit and that God will direct every step for His glory. CAMEROON: Pray for the churches in the north, where the Muslim population is growing. Pray that the Lord will use them to draw many to Him. Pray for those who have heard the Good News but hesitate to embrace it. NIGER: An alumnus asks us to pray that the Lord will encourage the hearts of Christians as they anticipate increasing violence. Pray for the efforts of pastors to mobilize their people to reach Muslims, and for efforts to reach children.  In the News PAKISTAN: We thank God that the blasphemy charges against Rimsha Masih have been dropped. This past August, the 14-year-old girl from a Christian family was accused of blasphemy when burnt pages containing Koranic verses were found in her backpack. She was arrested and jailed. In September, a local imam was arrested for planting the  pages. Rimsha was released on bail and she and her family are in hiding. On 20 November t he court dismissed the char ges in light of the facts that Rimsha , who has a menta l handicap, “was complet ely unaware of the religious feelings of Islam and Christianity,” and that another is accused of planting the pages. Despite this acquittal, the family still fears violence against them and cannot return home. Please pray for this family, that their faith would be strengthened and that the Lord will give them peace and direction. Pray also that this case will set a positive precedent in serving justice in future cases. For more analysis, see http://tinyurl.com/ctqo92n. SYRIA: Praise God for the release of Rev. George Andrea and Manu Pedrosian, kidnapped earlier this month (see 9  November bulletin). They a re home with their families. See more at http://tinyurl.com/c8zkj4c. From Global Initiative* Please pray for the people of Mali. Religious violence and terrorism threaten to overrun the country .  Just this week the  secular Tuar egs lost their last town in the north to Islamic extremists. The EU has decided to send 250 military trainers, and ECOWAS remains poised to send troops. Please pray that the gospel of peace will touch hearts. For Muslim Women** Please pray for a Malaysian Muslim Background Believer who needs clear direction for family relationships and future work choices. Pray that she has the courage to make difficult choices and that she reaps miraculous joy from those choices. Prayer Resources *Global Initiative is a ministry of Assemblies of God W orld Missions, USA.
