Well, we have finished a month of getting to know each other. This time has been filled with joy and pain. We have celebrated the beginning of a new journey and life together. It has also been a time when friends, relatives, and beloved members have suffered illness and pain. Our initial response to this paradoxical situation has been genuine care and love. When it was appropriate we sang and celebrated together. When it was necessary we have come together to hold one another in support and prayer. These responses were natural movements of who we are as individuals and a community. I have faith that we will continue to respond to both fortune and adversity with our love. Moving forward into July, I would encourage us to begin reflecting on our roots and how we wish to grow. The desire to grow our community and see it flourish is obvious. We need to be intentional about what this means. A place to start is reflecting on who we are as individuals and as a community. Where are our roots planted? Who, what and how do we see God calling us to grow? These are not easy questions nor do they have simple answers. They ask us to be reflective thinkers, and to live with purpose. I encourage us to continue to pray for clarity in discernment. In conclusion, I would like to make a note about our worship services. I use the revised common lectionary to determine the scripture passages of each week. The passages that are not preached are sometimes used for prayers and other worship moments. I have found many of the readings to be helpful in our journey together. The list below gives you each week and the readings that are suggested. I read each one and then choose one for our worship. Often I find one passage helps clarify others. You may also find this to be a helpful resource in your spiritual practices. Please feel free to contact me if you need anything or simply want to chat. July 2014 Edition

Blessed Summer and Warm Greetings!

Just for Fun! The 4th of July Picnic

A Jewish Rabbi and a Catholic Priest met at the town's annual 4th of July picnic. Old

friends, they began their usual banter. "This baked ham is really delicious," the priest

teased the rabbi. "You really ought to try it. I know it's against your religion, but I

can't understand why such a wonderful food should be forbidden! You don't know what

you're missing. You just haven't lived until you've tried Mrs. Hall's prized Virginia Baked

Ham. Tell me, Rabbi, when are you going to break down and try it?"

The rabbi looked at the priest with a big grin and said, "At your wedding."

Treasurer's Report for May, 2014

May Receipts $7899.66 May Expenses (7831.01) May Balance $ 68.65 Balance From April ($590.08) Balance Year to Date ($521.43)

Thanks to your generosity the new furnace and repairs have been paid in full. We are also within $650.00 of paying for the Pastoral Search and Moving Expenses. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to these two Special Funds. We are so blessed. We have had a few unexpected maintenance expenses i.e.; taking down some trees on the property and repair of the irrigation pump, which accounts for some of the expenses. Your continued generosity and payment of pledges is greatly appreciated. You can also help the bottom line by coming to the Annual Fund Raiser "United Community Celebration – dinner & auctions".

PAY IT FORWARD TIMES 2! Wright church had a "pay it forward" moment recently that is worth sharing. The daughter of Dale & Mary Ellen Parsons was shopping recently when in front of her at the checkout were several young people with lots of large deli type sandwiches. When she inquired if they were having a party they explained they were going to feed the homeless in the Boise area. They had money left over from their purchase of sandwiches and they gave it to her. She in turn went back into the store and purchased canned goods for the Wright Church food pantry.

Way to pay it forward.
