Jules Gabriel Verne was a French novelist, poet and playwright, born on the 8th of February 1828 in Nates France and died on the 24th of March 1905. Most famously known for his adventure novels, his collaboration with the publisher Pierre-Jules Hetzel resulted in the production of some

of the greatest science fiction stories ever published. Verne is also the second most translated author in the world after Agatha Christie, more so than even the likes of William Shakespeare. His best works include novels such as;

“Cinq semaines en ballon 1863 (Five weeks in a Balloon)” “Voyage au centre de la terre 1863-1867 (Journey to the Centre of the Earth)” “De la terre à la Lune 1865 (From the earth to the Moon)” “Vingt mille lieues sous les mers 1870 (20,000 Leagues Under the Sea)” “Le Tour du monde en quatre-vingts jours 1873 (Around the world in Eighty days)”

These works were published with over 50 other novels, in his popular series collectively known as the “Voyages Extraordinaires”. Sometime called the “Father of science-fiction”, he has been accredited with countless innovations years before their time, including submarines, space travel, terrestrial flight, the skyscraper and deep-sea exploration.

His works are still being consistently re-adapted to this day in films, plays and theatre. Here at the Jules Verne Panorama Bar we try to pay respect and Homage to a great author of days past with drinks and food inspired by the great adventures and characters from his novels.
