London is the capital of England, the home of the

Olympics in 2012.

It is the largest city in the United Kingdom.

London is a very important city during the

Olympics as it is home to many of the events.

ATTRACTIONS

LONDON EYEThe London Eye is one of the

many attractions in London.

It was finished in the year 2000.

It took seven years to make the London Eye.

The London Eye can carry 800 passengers at a time.

THE BIG BENThe Big Ben was finished on the 10th April 1858, that

makes it 153 years old.

Big Ben is 2.28 metres tall.

It is made out of tin and copper.

The official name of the clock is

The Great Westminster Clock.

THE RIVER THAMES

All along the River Thames are many royal

palaces, government buildings, market squares.

It is the longest river in England and goes right

through the centre of London.

It features heavily in the credits of a UK

favourite… Eastenders!

Olympics and is situated in East London. The Olympic stadium is surrounded by water on
