Suzanne Hockstein and Richard Hockstein of Seeing Voices joined us for the promo. Singer/songwriter Suzanne Hockstein and guitarist Richard Hockstein have been writing and playing music in bars and clubs around NYC for many years - performing in CBGB's, The Cat Club, The Bitter End, Kenny's Castaways, The Continental, The C Note, Don Hill's and countless others . They are also regular performers at An Beal Bocht Cafe in River-dale. Their more notable groups over the years have included Cult Failure, When Worlds Collide and cur-rently Seeing Voices. Their music has been de-scribed as blues tinged psychedelic rock or even Blondie meets the Yardbirds. Suzanne has a strong melodic voice, an engaging stage presence and a deep often introspective lyrical sensibility. Richard wears his blues/rock influences squarely on his sleeve and strongly believes in little amps turned up loud. See their website for more details about their latest album "Rumblestrut" www.seeingvoices.net

Elisa Contemporary Art also offered a “sneak preview” of the art they will be exhibiting at the upcoming festival including a work by artist Elaine Galen. Internationally-recognized as a painter, sculptor, and educator, Elaine Galen has created an intimate dialogue with nature, us-ing the painting process to explore its mystical, surreal and the spiritual aspects. Though her early work began in the style of Abstract Expressionism, she quickly de-veloped her own distinctive style and evocative visual language. Elaine’s landscapes are both perfectly abstract and wildly expressionistic. Her landscapes capture the emo-tional intensity and ever-changing moods of nature

where light and color are in constant transition. Paint in her hands is fluid and swift, streaks of brilliant color alternating with open passages. Her work has been acclaimed by art critics and curators as “hauntingly beautiful” and “powerful” …”bordering on the visionary and surreal” and a “mystical realiza-tion of place”. Elaine Galen's artwork was part of the 1962 Whitney Museum Biennial and is in the permanent collec-tions of the Neuberger Museum of Art; the James A. Michener Museum, Tampa Museum of Art; Missis-sippi Museum of Art; Brooklyn Museum; University Museum of Arizona Museum of Art; Musee Rigaud, France; Israel Museum, Jerusalem; Wellsley College, Yale University, Smith College; Concordia Col-lege. Some of her largest works can be viewed locally at the Hudson Valley Hospital Gallery in Cort-landt Manor, NY where they were selected for their special “Art for Healing” program.
