John 10:1-18 p. 759Anyone who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber. The one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.

Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.

Page 10: John 10:1-18 p. 759

But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify.

Page 11: John 10:1-18 p. 759

This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. …God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith.

Page 12: John 10:1-18 p. 759

He did it to demonstrate his righteousness, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.

Jesus is both the means by which we know God (gate), and the

God we know (Shepherd).
