This issues Top Tips are focused on the interview process and will help even the most inexperienced interviewees to shine.

Review the typical job interview questions employers ask, and practice your answers. Strong answers are specifi c but concise, drawing on concrete examples that highlight your skills and back up your

claims. Your answers should also emphasize skills that are important to the employer and relevant to the position. Be sure to review the job listing.

In addition to indicating what you know about the company, you should also try to develop a connection to your

interviewer. Know the interviewer’s name, and use it during the job interview. (If you’re not sure of the name, call and ask prior to the interview. And, listen very carefully during introductions.

Apprenticeships allow you to combine work and study by mixing on-the-job training with classroom learningYou’ll be employed to do a real job while studying for a formal qualifi cation, usually for one day a week either at a college or a training centre. By the end of your apprenticeship, you’ll hopefully have gained the skills and knowledge needed to either succeed in your chosen career or progress onto the next apprenticeship level.

You’ll also be constantly developing your transferable skills, otherwise known as soft skills, which are highly valued by employers.
