Qualifications• Animators today need to know how to work certain
computer programmes and use certain computer techniques as all of the jobs are currently in computer animation. E.g 3D moddeling, Flash animation and photoshop
• To get a job in animation and to get into the course points are taken into acount but what is more important is your portfolio. A portfolio which shows off a wide range of skills will get you a good job and a place in your chosen course
• You need at least a bacholars degree

Where to study?• The colleges which provide animation course in
Ireland are some of the best in the world. These two are the best known:
• Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art Design & Technology
• Ballyfermot College for further education
• You can also study in:• Limerick Insitute of |Technoloy

Average Salary
• The average salary for someone working in computer animation in Dublin is €34,000 a year

Job Prospects• Its a booming market with lots of
jobs currently available all over the world.
• Ireland is quickly becoming famous for its high quality animation and more business is being directed towards irish companies which in turn creates more jobs

Promotion Oppurtunities• There are some oppurtunities for
promotion but not a lot• If you are very good at a specific field
you may get promoted to head of that deparment on certain projects
• To get a higher up job such as ,art director or producer, you should be familiar with a number of different fields and have experience in them as well

Case Study- David Mc Camley• A year after he finished the leaving, he
got a job at Don Bluth studios as a cell painter
• 2 weeks later he was flown to America to work on ’An American tale’ under the supervision of ex-Disney animators
• He did all sorts of work and discovered he was strongest at backgrounds
• Went back to Ireland and continued working at Bluths for 4 years
