Grouping of tasks, duties, & responsibilities that constitutes the total work assignment for employees is called Job.
Task-A distinct, identifiable work activity Duties-A larger work segment composed
of several tasks that are performed by an individual.
Responsibility-An obligation to perform certain tasks and duties.
What is job?
Job Analysis is the SYSTEMATIC process of collecting and making judgments about all the important information related to a job.
This Analysis Includes-
Identifying tasks/duties performed
Identifying Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) required to perform those tasks

Title/ Designation of job and location in the concern. The nature of duties and operations to be performed
in that job. The nature of authority- responsibility relationships. Necessary qualifications that are required for job. Relationship of that job with other jobs in a concern. The provision of physical and working condition or the
work environment required in performance of that job.
Job Description
Job Specification Identifies major job responsibilities; outlines specific
KSA, and other physical and personal characteristics necessary to perform a job. The contents are :
Job title and designation Educational qualifications for that title Physical and other related attributes Physique and mental health Special attributes and abilities Maturity and dependability Relationship of that job with other jobs in a concern.
Job Specification
An assessment of the relative worth of various jobs on the basis of a consistent set of job and personal factors, such as qualifications and skill required. Organizations use job evaluation to:
Ensure compliance with legal requirements, including federal laws and regulations on equal pay and state/provincial or local ordinances on comparable worth.
Establish a rational, consistent job structure based on value to the organization in terms of each job's complexity, importance and/or other factors (with or without reference to market valuation).
Help provide a basis for pay-for-performance. Assist in establishing pay rates and structures that are
competitive.
