Talented students from John Leggott College have been awarded medals after competing in the National Biology Olympiad.

The Biology Olympiad is a national competition for the brightest biologists in the country. Organised by the Institute of Biology, the competition attracts over 4,000 entrants, many of whom are students from private schools and colleges.

The students who took part had to complete a two hour online test paper covering topics from ethology to biochemistry and the questions were much more demanding than those seen in a normal A level examination.

John Leggott College has been entering teams into the competition for over 10 years with this year’s team being one of the most successful. The team of 14 saw 3 students being awarded silver medals, 3 students being awarded bronze medals, 2 students being highly commended and another 4 students being commended.

MA Kit Chun (Jason) from Hong Kong began his studies at JLC in 2010. He is studying for A-levels in biology, chemistry, physics and maths.

Thanks to hard work and support from his tutors he has been offered a place at

The Royal Veterinary College University of London to study

Veterinary Science in 2012. This is an incredibly competitive field to enter and we are very proud of his achievements so far. Good luck to Jason for A-level exam results day!
