Summer Class Program | June 30-August 1!The Summer Class Program will provide dancers with five weeks of training in specific subjects. We recommend this program for dancers wishing to improve

their skills in a particular subject as well as for new students. Classes meet once or twice a week, and are offered in the styles of ballet, jazz, contemporary,

tap, hip hop and tumbling.!

Summer Intensive Program | July 28-August 1!Our popular summer intensive program offers a rigorous set of classes in a variety of subjects. Recommended for intermediate and advanced dancers

ages 10+, this course will enable dancers to experience a high level of technique and choreography in a short amount of time.!

Mini Summer Intensive Program | July 28, 30, August 1!Stemming from our unique Intensive Program, the Mini Intensive Program will

feature 3 days with several classes each day. This program is specifically designed for advanced beginner through intermediate dancers ages 8-11. !

Petite Summer Intensive Program | July 29 and 31 BRAND NEW this summer~our Petite Intensive for ages 6-8. This two day, half day experience will provide dancers with classes in multiple genres, including

tumbling, improv, hip hop and more!!!Individual Instruction

JDC offers individual vocal instruction in addition to continued private dance instruction. Students who wish to perform in school musicals will need not only

FAQs Regarding Progression and Placement"• My child is new to the program~what should I register her/him for?!

If your child is 4.5-5, any of our Pre or Primary classes are appropriate. For the 6 and over age group, Ballet should be a considered subject. (Ballet is required for Jazz levels 2 and up and Tap 2 and up.) Dance students need ballet training for coordination, flexibility, body alignment and grace. Without this training, it is very difficult for one to progress in other subjects of dance. Tap, Jazz, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Pointe and Tumbling are offered at certain and proper ages.!

• If my child is new to the program, but has had dance training elsewhere, how do I register for a class?!

Please call the studio to make a placement appointment. After the placement appointment has taken place, we will contact you to let you know what class would be appropriate for your child. There is a $25 audition fee per genre/class for group evaluations, $75/hour for private evaluations.!

• If my child is a former student of dance, how will I know what to register for the following year?!

For the summer, register for the closest level to their previous school year levels. !• If my child studies with different instructors throughout the year within Jenny's Dance

Centre, will this slow down her/his progression?!No. Although each instructor will have a different approach, all of our instructors teach from the same syllabus for each class and level.!!

• Why is Jenny's Dance Centre so strict with the age requirements?!Each class is given an age requirement according to mental and physical capabilities. Your child must be the minimum age required, by June 1, 2014.!!

• Is good attendance a factor in my child's progression?!Most definitely. Inconsistent attendance will only slow down your child's progression and encourage frustration for her/him, the instructor and the classmates. Good attendance is a must for your child to excel physically and mentally with her/his technique, and is necessary for reasons of choreography used in class and placement within the choreography. ATTENDANCE POLICY: Students are allowed two unexcused absences per summer which include illness accompanied with a doctor’s note, funeral, one vacation day or a graded academic obligation. Please phone or email all absences, with the reason, class day and time.!!

• I have a boy~where should we start?!All boys are welcome to enroll in any of our classes pending an evaluation for the proper level, however, we are now offering a few “boys only” options as well. Email Julie for more information and to inquire about our boys scholarship program. !!

• What is your refund/credit policy? REFUND POLICY!

No tuition refunds for regular classes will be given after June 8, 2014. There will be a $50 service fee charged for each class refunded before the deadline. !

CREDIT POLICY!Credit towards future tuition will be considered if a student suffers a serious injury or illness that removes them from attending class for 3 or more weeks. Requests for medical credit must be made in writing, accompanied by a physician's note and submitted within 7 days of the injury or illness. Credit is valid only for the student to whom it is issued for classes (it may not be applied to costumes or other studio fees).!

home phone, email and cell phone (required for emergencies and class cancellations), birth date, waiver/policy signature and payment. Incomplete forms will be returned and will delay process of your registration.!

• Fax your form(s) to 847-327-0423 or drop them off at the studio (in the outside drop box).!Registration Notes!

• Please fill out a separate registration form for each child registered.!• All registration forms will be processed as first come, first served. !• Payment is required to process registration. Faxed registrations must be accompanied

Personal Appearance for All Classes"

• At all times, ladies hair should be in a bun or secure ponytail. Short hair should be secured with a full headband and away from the face.!

• Tights must be worn at all times~no holes, please.!• Label your name in all dance shoes.!• Dancers with “back to back” classes must have pink tights for ballet class. However, tan or pink

tights are permitted for other dance classes.!• Ballet skirts must not be longer than the top of the thigh. Skirts may not be worn in jazz class.!• The following items are not permitted at any time:!

• Pantyhose, tutus, anklets, leg warmers, socks, bicycle shorts, bike unitards, jewelry (including watches), half headbands (full fabric or knit headbands only), or gum. No loose fitting garments are to be worn over leotards such as T-shirts, sweatshirts, boxer shorts, soccer shorts, baggy dance pants, sweat pants, etc. (These items are permitted and encouraged in Hip-Hop!)!

JDC Company and Team Programs"!The JDC Company and JDC Team are year-round pre-professional programs recommended and designed for the dancer who wishes to study at a more intense level or/and for the dancer who would like to pursue dance in college and beyond. These programs improve the dancer’s technique and performing skills and will also teach them time management, responsibility, strong work ethic, higher goal achievement and the importance of teamwork and unity. Participation in the Company or Team Program is by invitation or audition only. !JDC dancers are continuously evaluated at all ages and levels and may be selected at any point during their dance training at JDC based on the number of years they have been training in all genres of dance, as well as their technical and performing skills within each genre. Company and Team dancers must also have the strong ability to learn and retain combinations and choreography at an accelerated pace in addition to applying and retaining corrections given by their instructors. They must also display a high level of dedication to the art of dance within the classroom setting on a consistent and regular basis. We find most dancers are not ready for the intensity of the Team Program before age 7 and the Company Program before age 8.!The commitment for the Company program averages 15 hours per week, including Friday/Saturday rehearsals, and consists of classes in Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Tap, Hip Hop, Technique and Conditioning as well as Yoga. The company competes in 2-4 regional competitions during the year, one national competition every other year and workshops/intensives in-house and outside of JDC. The Company also performs in the spring recital and other scheduled company events throughout the year. Company dancers are required to continue their dance training during summer months.!The Team track of dance education will include classes in Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary Tap and Hip Hop as well as team rehearsal time at a more moderate pace, averaging 6-10 hours per week. Students will benefit from a high level of technical training and cutting edge choreography while preparing for 1-2 competitions each season.!Dancers who are interested in the Team and Company program are strongly recommended to enroll in all genres of dance along with Ballet and Jazz technique classes. It is also required that these dancers study throughout the year, including summer classes and intensives at JDC. !Auditions for the JDC Company will be held on Saturday, May 17. Students ages 6-8 will audition from 3:00-4:30, students ages 9-12 will audition from 12:30-3:00 and students ages 13+ will a u d i t i o n f r o m 9 : 0 0 - N o o n . Summer Intensive Schedule"Our summer intensive program provides rigorous training in a condensed period of time with masterful instructors. Students will study ballet, pointe, variations, jazz, contemporary, modern, hip hop, yoga, tumbling, conditioning and improv skills. Please pack a portable lunch~dancers enrolled in the Intensive will be given a 30-minute lunch break. The Petite Intensive is designed for dancers ages 6-8 with a minimum of 1 year training in ballet and jazz. The Mini Intensive Program is offered to students ages 9-12 or with instructor recommendation, and who have had a minimum of 2 years ballet and jazz training. The Intensive Program is offered for students ages 10 and higher who have completed a minimum of four years ballet and jazz training.!

WE ARE LOOKING FOR STRONG, DEDICATED DANCERS WHO LOVE TO PERFORM AND COMPETE!!

!JDC COMPANY AND TEAM AUDITIONS!

Auditions for the JDC Company and JDC Team will be held on Saturday, May 17. Each workshop will be comprised of ballet and jazz technique classes, followed by contemporary choreography. Please arrive 15 minutes prior.!

• Students ages 6-8 who have a minimum of one year each of ballet and jazz training are invited to audition from 3:00-4:30pm. The fee for this audition workshop is $20.!

• Students ages 9-12 who have a minimum of two years each of ballet and jazz training are invited to audition from 12:30-3:00pm. The fee for this audition workshop is $50.!

• Students ages 13 and higher who have a minimum of five years each of ballet and jazz training are invited to audition from 9am-Noon. The fee for this workshop is $60.!

• Please wear convertible pink tights, a solid color leotard and appropriate dance shoes for each genre.!

• Dancers accepted into the team or company program will be required to participate in summer classes at JDC including ballet, jazz and contemporary, as well as the summer intensive. Within two weeks, an email notification will state each dancer’s assigned classes/levels for summer study, if accepted to company or team.!
