Prior knowledge : Students have the basic of addition

Materials : Small card numbers, small card of shape pictures.

Activities and questions will be asked to your pupils:

Step 1:

Pupils will be divided into 5 or 6 groups

Pupils will be asked to set two group of shape in two parts.

For example;

Step two;

Pupils will be asked to arrange the shapes in two rows and two columns.

Step three;

Pupils will be asked to put them in matrix shape.

Step four;

Pupils will be asked to change the shapes with any different numbers from 1 – 10

Step five;

Pupils will be asked to name each part with letters A and B

Step six;

Tell the pupils how to add A and B with the function of A + B

A = 1 5 + B = 4 7

1 + 4, 5 + 7, 3 + 9, 2 + 6 where A + B = 4, 12, 11,10, then ask pupils to write them in

matrix form;

A 1 5 + B 4 7 where C = A + B 4 12

3 2 9 6 11 10

This is the basic concept of matrix where we call 2 by 2.

The next lesson will be different type of matrix such as 2 by 3 or 3 by 3.

The properties of the quadratic equation graph:

are constants and a≠ 0.

(b) A quadratics functions graph is parabola shaped

(c) The shape and the positions of the graph depends on the value of a and b2 – 4ac>0
